jacked clutch?

well the rx has been running flawlessly for almost a month now. granted i only drive it maybe 2 times a week, but today i was practicin some drifting on the wet roads and now when the car is in nutral or the clutch is in, there is like crap ratteling and bouncing around. like there is some matereal that is hitting the assy and then bouncing off of the bell housing. any ideas before i have to pull it out. by the way it still drives and runs just fine, just sounds broken.

maybe its your throw out bearing. if your in neutral and get rattling or whurring it might be a good indicator.

You say It rattles In Neutral and when the Clutch Is In? I'm Inclined to believe that your Pilot Bearing Is the culprit.

when i pull out the tranny- where is the pilot bearing? is it hard to change? i know the throw out is easier than zip ties, but i hate tranny work. o if i have to crack the case open i would rather take it to a shop(expensive).

Does it make noise in all gears except for fourth? If so your tranny is on death row and you most likely need to have it rebuilt. It just happened to me twice........

no, it changes sound and volume with the speed of the car, but it is totally silent when the clutch is in. and it whirrs and pings when its just sitting there in nutral.

That sounds like an internal problem. The pilot bearing will only make noise with the clutch pedal on the floor (on or off, I don't know what the REAL status would be). I forget if that's engauged or disengauged (pedal on the floor). The throw out bearing would also only make noise under the same conditions.

In any gear with your foot off the clutch pedal, the 2 bearings should not move at all (the throw out bearing might be touching the pressure plate and moves a little, but it WILLLLLL rotate with the pedal on the floor!).

My dollar is something internal to the transmission.

Mine does the same thing, in neutral, wherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, nice and quiet with the clutch pedal on the floor.

Post what happens!!
