Sorry I haven't been around much, but here's why:
My 86 FC got smashed up the other week (in baltimore city for Otakon) by some asshat that doesn't think braking at stop lights is a good idea. So, my catback is BENT. My rear left wheel is tilted a little bit but still drives OK. Braking is tougher. There is something weird with the acceleration, it's still as torquey as before but the speed has been severely cut. I can't rev over 5500 rpm without the engine calling me a bastard. What could have happened to cause those kinds of symptoms?
Bastard volkswagons.

the engine problem sounds like loose fuel injector connector(s), or some other electronic part unplugged/broken. check there first, then fuses, then try reving in every gear and in neutral and see if theres a diffrence, maybe a tranny problem.
If the wheel is tilted you're adding a lot of resistance onto the acceleration path, try rubbing your hand down concrete side walks, hurts dont it?
As for the engine revving issue, check the usual fuel filter to make sure its not spewing fluid on the ground, make sure none of the hoses back there are kinked up (it can and will happen in a wreck) and overall do a 200 point inspection of the car...chasis damage SUCKS ***** when it comes to fixing it, that's why drifters usually tighten up theirs so much so just the body panels come off and not bend the chasis.

Sorry to hear of the misfortune. I don't remember crying when I spun out into a ditch one day, wrecking my rear fender and 6 month old paint job but I did say "****" a few times.
time to buy back the car and get a $500 FC with a blown motor and swap your parts into it. Good luck.

but like he said, just do a complete chassis inspection, engine inspection. just go over the entire car with a finetooth comb... it'll definately be worth your time, as you'll be able to catch problems now and prevent ones from cropping up.

you don't have to accept what the insurance co. offers you for your car in some states, check with local laws and find out. though it is risky trying to cover a modified cars value it may be worth your interest to try as i dont know how much money, blood, sweat and tears went into building it.

Twin screw is actually the more well known name, it's the slang term for lysholm type. A swedish inventor by the name of lysholm came up with the design many years ago but the rotor shapes were too hard to manufacture, until about the 90s. But yes, you were right.
The design is often used in aircraft fuselage compressor applications, for high flying planes that need cabin pressure. It is said to be possible to make very reliable compressors with it. it only has 3 moving parts, kind of like a rotary engine.
