ok i have an 89 vert and ive had the add coolant light going off for a bit now but i checked the sensor and the levels of the fluid and it was fine. didnt think anything of it but in the drive through today it started to rev from 1500 to 2000 rpms. kinda distracted with the girl infront of me showing her ****. i looked down and my car was trying to overheat so i parked it and popped the hood. the radiator was gurgling and the overflow was letting out coolant. i let it cool off and started it again and started to drive. it tried to overheat again and i was about to pull off when the temp dropped to normal half way point. i drove it home the rest of the way with no problems but no heat out of the heater (probably cuz i am low on coolant now). now its parked outside waiting for me to figure out whats wrong. any ideas would be great. thanks in advance.

maybe your raidiator is bad or has a hole in it? try flushing your system

the heater core could be leaking inside the car. do you smell coolant inside?

another option..... (my dad did this once) check the heater lines and see if they are clogged.... I had that problem with my 300zx, and my dad had left a rag inside one of the lines for the heater.... perdy funny shizzle~!~

if you were driving it and it was overheating and all of a sudden dropped back to normal temp, wouldnt you think to put a thermostat in the car.Its the least expensive and easiest to do.

I was just gona say the samething. you don't have a rad cap on the upper rad hose pipe that comes from the water pumpm housing do you??????

im more then ready for these problems i just thought i could make a payment on the loan before i started fixing.

I dont want to be totally pesimistic, but gurgling coolant is often a blown coolant seal (which means engine rebuild). However, it could be a clogged radiator, collapsing hose, thermostat, bad radiator cap, etc. Start by replacing the radiator cap and thermostat with mazda dealer parts. I know its rediculously expensive, but many aftermarket ones don't work properly in our cars. Check for a radiator clog as well and make sure all of your coolant hoses are good to go. If none of these help, then bring it to a shop with a sniffer. They can hook the device on where the radiator cap goes and sniff for exhaust gas in the coolant system. If its positive, you need to rebuild it or get a new/used engine to put in there. Good luck bro.

thanks joe i think im going to replace the thermostat first the cap looks like its in great condition. and all the hoses are fine so hopefully this fixes it. thanks again joe.

hey when i replace the thermostat should i also replace the housing?
