If there was water in the tank, the tank must be drained and the whole fuel system cleaned out. Just "burning it off" is a very bad thing.

any way to tell if there IS water in the tank?

well it WAS like that.. (past the 1/2 pedal travel)

taking it our for the 1/2 hour drive revealed that's not the actual symptom.. it bogs more when its at idle and you give it some gas.. she bogs down then either stalls or picks up and sounds fine..

but theres still a tad of "mmmmmmmmbpmmbpmmmmmmmmmmbpmmmm" while accelerating (equivalent to piston misfire - not sure if rotaries misfire"

also when you "put it to the kitchen" (floor it in gear already at say 35mph.. she goes.. but its a little rough.. mmmbrpbBRPMMMMMMMMBRPRPBMMMMM!!!! *shift* BRRmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmbpbpmmmmbpmmmbpmmbpbpbmmmmmm

but i havent taken it out with the new trailing coils

i seriously suspect the plugs on this one..

but we will find out tomorrow..

i REALLY hope i dont have to clean out the fuel system and drain it.. i just filled it!!!!!

its just a guess that condensation formed and then got into the fuel.. a GUESS.. educated one, i suppose youd call it

If anything, its just condensation formed in the tank. It sat for over a year almost empty. Would this still justify dropping the tank to clean it?

You dont have to hold the pressure release, this will give you a low reading. Remove the check valve from the gage near where it screws into the spark plug hole. This works excellent. Get a Haynes manual, the procedure is simple. Disconnect the fuel pump, the crank angle sensor, remove both trailing plugs, put the gage in one hole, crank engine, do the other one. you should see all even "bumps", all around 85 psi. Good luck!
