Irregular Performance/Boost.
I've got an S4 TII, the 10 AE to be exact.
Here's the deal. Sometimes the car runs really well, and sometimes it runs really bad. It all seems random though is what has me stumped. I keep up on maintainance, just put in new plugs, I'm about 800 miles into an oil change, new filters, etc.
The problem starts when I start the car, it will either run really well or really poorly the ENTIRE time it is on, for that session I guess you could say. Like if i drive it for a while and it's doing great the whole time it's running, then I turn it off and walk away for a bit, when I come back and start it again it will either be good again, or bad. It's seemingly random.
I also notice that when it runs poorly it isn't boosting as high as it is when it is running good. When it's running good the stock gauge will go all the way up, but when it's not it will only go up about half way, even at WOT. It seems to me like it would be a computer problem, like the ECU telling the car to back off, that would explain why it is either good or bad after a fresh startup.
Anyone have any other ideas? This car is bone stock and I am really wondering what is going on. When it runs well the car will push you hard back in the seat when you give it some gas, but when it runs bad you barely even move. Needless to say I'd like it to run well all the time

this is almost EXACTLY the same problem my 10AE has/had. I fixed a few vacuum leaks and the problem seemed to go away. Not sure if that'll help you. I had plenty of low-end boost but NOTHING up high. Like 1/2 way up the gauge, tops.
But 1/10th of the time I'll get full boost and the car will scream...

Try and figure out if theres any variables that go with whether the car runs well or not. Does it run better on hotter days? Does it run worse when you start it again before it completely cools down. Or if you wait longer than a certain amount of time?
