interior question
hey guys, is there any way you can get a black interior with out swapping it from another 7? i know you could prob dye the carpet and reapolster the seat but i see the dash being the hardest part. think you could just sand it and paint it? i need sugustions(sp)!!!

dont sand it its made of a leather/ yunal coated foam core. you can duplicolor paint it, supposed to work, my friend did it, looks great 2 years later. pull it out to do it though or the paint will get everywhere

why not just swap it with another interior if you are going to yank it and paint it.
then again im not a big fan of interior panels being painted to much. little accents ok, but lots of paint inside the car thats just begging for a run or a drip or even a peal.

Im in the process of painting my interior, and dying my carpets. I removed ALL the plastic parts from the car, cleaned them with a product called "Final Scuff" and scrub it with an abrasive pad, then I spray on a layer of "Bulldog Adhesion Promoter" and then I paint each part with a vinyl paint that I read is great for interiors. It is by SEM, you can find out where to buy some at: http://www.sem.ws/where_to_buy.php
It is about 12 Dollars a can.
The parts look excellent. You dont need to sand anything just clean the parts well, with something that will get all of the waxes off the pieces (especially the DASH) I am still looking for a good dye for the carpets, but the SEM vinyl paint and be used on carpets also. Its not at all difficult to do, most of the interior snaps off. Its a great project.
Good Luck!

They make a dye for vinyl it works well on all the interior parts most upholstry shops will do this job probably about $200 for it to be done professionally but then you get the gaurantee and piece of mind that goes with it. I paid $100 for the dash but I also went to the most respected upholstry shop in the suburbs of chicago. Looks great now. I looked for a front cut with low miles and a black dash for a decent price for ever and finally just bought a dark grey one for my RHD conversion.

definatly dont paint fabric though, dying doesnt work well either, we have a synthetic carpet so the stiching goes black, but the rest wont unless you reallt try

I didnt even mean the seats and carpet. You can have them covered with vinyl or leather or just change to racing seats of some type and for the carpet buy new from 1A auto online.
