Interior Pieces?

I've heard that S5 interior pieces are stronger than S4 pieces, Is this true? Also, are S4 pieces Interchangebale with S5 pieces? I.E. Demister grilles, Stereo surround, and defroster vents. I just would liek to know because I'm going to begin buying new pieces from mazdatrix and If the S5 pieces fit and are stronger, I'd like to use them.

I believe that S5 interior pieces are made of like a rubber/plastic compound. It stands up better to heat and UV rays. Some things are interchangable like the demister grilles, but the surround and vents are not.

I have a S5 Stereo Surround in my S4, that part is a hell of alot more durable than the S4. My car got broken into and they ripped the CD player out, the surround was not damaged at all.

How the hell did you get an S5 surround to fit in a S4? I tried one time and it would not line up right...

It lines up just fine. You just need to change out the center vents to S5 as well. I did it in my vert and it worked.

the only difference is the logicon looks like it is set further back due the different depths of the surround

Hmm... yeah... the logicon looked way too deep set. Maybe the mounts were fucked up so that it set even farther back.

I just tested the demister grilles. Pulled one out of my S4 and dropped it into the S5. Perfect fit.

The interior plastic is all the same. There is no difference between the S4 and S5 and plastic found at Mazdatrix/ Mazdaformance/ Mazda dealers today. It is all the same stuff. Same thickness, Same taste, same factory 15 years ago.

Now there are differnet colors between S4 and S5 interiors and most of the switches are of a cheaper build quality on the S5 parts, but the plastic is all the same ABS and PVC.

The demister grills are the same, the vents (except the center vents above the Logicon) even the same clock trim between the 88 and 89-92 FCs.

The only thing that is different as far as plastics are concerned is the radio/logicon surround (which is just the same plastic as the S4 version, with rubberized vinyl on the outside) and the center vents, and the shape of the cluster surround (as well as the basics such as door panels, rear side panels, things like that, that had to change for the SRS parts.

Broke my passenger side one this weekend trying to get a parking permit sticker off the windshield. I've had the center vent grills break on me as well when I tried to put my phone holder on them. Are the new pieces at least a little less brittle?

I just drive at night and garage during the day (work graves) and my 88 vert interior looks brand spanking new, even here in sunny FL.

Hmm maybe I should make FG or CF Vent grills? It would look pretty spiffy too.

Bleh. I'm making a Fiber glass boost and water temp gauge pod which goes over it anyways.

I made CF center vents, a couple years back... no one wanted to pay even my cost to make them.
