interior light diming

issue....:

im having a wierd issue.....my cluster and guage lights arent working...i checked the fuses....checked ECU and checked pinouts and nothing looks burnt or cut....

how it happend....:

driving along my buddy flicked my fan switch and all the lights went out...the thing is- i use a 40amp fuse on the fan and its a direct connected to the bat and the fan with just the fuse and the switch inbetween? everything works....just no lights...

what i DO KNOW:

the lighting wiring isnt getting current because the cigarette lighter wires that i was useing for my greddy electronic gauge stopped working too?

possibly...?:

the dimming module?
some sort of relay burn out that i didnt know existed?
my life sux?

thanks everyone!

Burnt up light switch or light switch harness would be the first thing I would be looking at.

ok i checked the pins on t he connector...everything checks out nothing smells either ima replace the light switch BUT...also my headlights turn on open and operate correctly...along with my hazzards....my turn signals...etc....just everything else......ill look at changing the switch.....and then the harness, it just runs from the switch to behind the dash and into the fuse box right on to the igintion key, one to the cigarette lighter another to the glove box right??

i knew u would come up with something!

thanks any other inout would be AWSOME! i

cant drive at night!

OH and where can i find a good ignition wire in the centerconsole area (i have a completely gutted dash no ac no blower no nothing just harness and wirewall) to hookup the greddy guage ignition wire to i know i can find some on the ECU but tahts crazy to hook up a guage over there as i am keeping the wiring clean and to a minimum?

Headlight operation is completely different than parking lights and dash lights. The only thing common is that the same **** turns them on... but internally it is like three different switches.

At the light switch you will have a White/Green. It should have 12 volts on it at all times. That is the feed from the fuse. Then coming out of the light switch, there is a Red/Black and Red/Green (don't confuse the Red/Black with the Red/Dk Blue The red/black and Red/green are about the same size, while the Red/Dk Blue is a larger gauge wire).

The Red/black should have at least 12 volts on it when the parking lights are on, while the Red/green should have + 9 volts (or more) on it when the dash lights are on.

If neither the parking lights or the Dash lights are working then either the White/green has a blown fuse, or a bad switch/harness. If only the dash lights are not working, then its probably just the switch or harness.

The harness goes from the light switch to just above the fuse box in the drivers kick panel, and has a large blue plug there.

what are you trying to wire? The ignition switch wires are usually the easist to get too.

OH the electronic greddy temp gauge uses 4 wires......

1 constant 12v (red)
1 ignition (orage)
1 lightpower (white)
1 ground (black)

i wanted to basically wire this up with wiring closest to the center console as thats where the gauges are situated...

Well, I would use primary ignition then which is a large gauge Black/Yellow at the ignition switch, or a small gauge one at the back of the gauges.

There is nothing in the center console area itself that is a true ignition (Hot in On/Run and Start).

Remember if you go off the ignition switch to fuse the wire within a couple inches of your connection.
