interior color !

what can i use to color my interior different (like the dash and paneling) the carpet i know i can use vinyl dye and it works well on the middle console but on other things if u scratch it, it comes right off.. so can i have some tips? something that wont peel or fade.

and another thing.. when i go about 2500rpm and let off the gas (in neutral) i get a little backfire .. why? i have a cone filter and my cat is kinda messed up.. but what would make it do that?

thanks guys

Lol, the man wants to know about his interior. I think the backfire was just added in. See, this is why you do 2 different posts for this.

Well about the interior:

I know there has been talk about s few products on here that are supposed to work pretty good. Do a search and see what you come up with. If I thought it was worth it I would look for you I think you should just buy a whole interior of the color you want unless you want some custom color done. I really don't think anything will last very long at all. There just isn't a good way to change a plastic's(or vynal's) color. Thats why its dyed before molded. What color are you looking for? Or are you trying to make the interior match an exterior color you want(I only say this because I thought of it as well)?

How much *is* an interior? I think the car I'm getting is blue inside, and I'd prefer black... I'd be willing to do the work to swap one for the other. Also, anyone know where I could maybe get a spare gauge pod/headlight-wiper ****/turnsignal stock assembelly? I have a mod I want to try. I want to take the thing apart, and try rebuilding it to emit blue instead of orange. On most cars its simply some colored pieces of plastic that light shines through. I know how to make things out of clear plastic, and im quite handy with an airbrush and paint... thinking I could create some blue pieces. Just a personal prefrence...

Hey Goth,

Go to your local pick-a-part and start scrounging for interier parts. You can replace the fabric parts of your interior easy enough, but in my experience, trying to recolor plastic panels is a waste of time and money.

Hey Goth,

The cost depends on where you go. I got a Logicon( AC and heater contol) from a U-Wrench-It for ten bucks. They have a set price for dash climate control units. Mazda wants about 300 bucks for this thing. So look around, you'd be surprised what you can find for next to nothing.

Sometimes if you check on the classifieds on www.teamfc3s.org or www.thepartstrader.com you can find whole interiors for sale. If not you can just buy piece by piece from people on there. Then ask on the forum here because some people take out their whole interiors. I have the blue interior too. I wanted black before to go with the silver I was going to paint the car. Then I changed my mind because of the work involved and decided to paint the car carolina blue istead of silver.
