interesting SE conversion

i'm looking for some advise. i'd like to convert my '88 white SE into a 10th aniversary edition. have any of you done it before or know someone who's done it? or does anyone have links with parts lists? any help or advise would be great.

It'd be cheaper to just buy a high mileage 10th AE and restore it.

Would be neat though, You must consider the 10th is the heaviest TII.... If you feel like weighing you car down with leather and the such.... I'll bet if you just add the turbo stuff, rotor badges and the white taillight and wheels you would be sitting pretty... I have a 10th and personally I am thinking of blasting my wheel to thier true metal color... I saw a 10th who did this and I thought it looked awesome, for some reason I think the shape of the rims COMBINED with the white, dates it a little. Blasted I thought it to look much more contemporary.

It would be expensive and a lot of work but you could have a lighter car than most other t2s giving you a nice advantage...

actually the S5 Turbos are the same weight, or slightly more...

So your statement should say that the 10thAE is the heaviest S4 coupe.

But it still wouldn't be a true 10thAE...

I mean power to weight.... The S5 may weigh a little more but they also have more hp...
I know there is debate here on which is faster but... I belive the 10th ae would be the slowest of all the turbo models if compared stock to stock.

leather, extra security parts, paint, headlight washers.. fully loaded they are about 2850 (about the same as a S4 non-P package manual tranny vert) or a S5 T2.

you can get a regular TII with headlight washers and paint.

what's a "regular" TII suppossed to weigh? 2850 doesn't sound that bad.

mine weighs 2819 with a full tank of gas.

You couldn't get a S4 Turbo with monocromatic paint and headlight washers unles you bought the 10thAE in the USA.

That is because you have a S5... S5 models were anywhere from 120 to 200 lbs heavier than the same S4 models.

ah man.. you couldn't search... only covered 100 times before...

they had to do significant increases in stucture and system to support the SRS system (mouse belts on the coupes, air bags on the verts) as well as things like a bigger gas tank, cheaper parts (steel used often instead of the forged aluminum for things like the Jack and spare) additional supports in the dash for anti-cave in (again SRS related, no structure strength increases).

Exactly. Sure some s5 parts or stuff might be better, but the s4 ppl can easily use them and be even better off.

If you want a 10th AE, just buy one, even if they are "heavy" or whatever, it's still pretty trick. I'd love to have one, just because it's cool looking (white wheels = rulage).
