Intercooler water sprayer question

Hey guys got bored on the weekend and decided to try and put some water sprayers on my intercooler but ran into a lil problem. Brought a washer bottle and pump from the wreckers and mounted it in my engine bay and it seems that it gravity feeds down to the sprayers and just leaks out. Tried running the hose as high as i could for as far as i could but didnt make a difference. Has anyone played round with one of these setups and knows how go get round this prob, its a FMIC btw

I think he means that the nozzle must be positioned at a point above the water because the pumps are rotary pumps that don't seal the water in the tank.

You can attempt to deal with the issue by using a triggered solenoid like on a water injection setup. Did I say water injection. You should scrap your IC sprayer and spray water on the inside. Look in the Aux injection forum.

Problem - Bottle gravity drains

Solution - Fix your design error

we did a set up like this but for a bleach system on some kids S10 in highschool. ran 2 tubes back to the back tires. worked fine never leaked. maybe you need a diff pump like one from the old model with a sub zero tank i think when i took mine out it was full but didnt leak?

Yeah was just doing this cause i was bored, mate had good results on his wrx. Well the design error is a bit hard cause there isnt many places i can mount this bottle. However would a check valve to sort the problem be hard to find

just route your hose so at some point in the line it goes above the tank and you should be good

afr you trying to spray the outside of the cooler? Y not use the windshield washer pump, try unhooking it from the hood, plug it into your setup and see if it works..

if not, I'm lost don't have a turbo never have

I take it this is a FMIC that is lower than the bottle? What is happening is a siphon effect is pulling the water out even though the pump is off, and making a point in the line higher than the tank will not fix it. What you need is a valve inline near the tank that allows air into the system when the pump is off. Think of a tee in the line with a check valve vented to air.

Just use the stock oem rx7 back window washer setup, install the oem setup back where it comes from factory, get yourself the factory switch for the dash and spray till you pass out..

I used the same setup for dual bleach sprayers on the rear tires, made for a most excellant smoke show..worked flawless for years and years.

You've created a siphon by mounting the nozzle lower then the tank. Correct that error as Turbo II Rotor has already mentioned.

Well i had a look under the front passenger guard, and i have my intercooler piping there so putting the bottle there is out of the question. If i locate this bottle in the boot and have the hose run higher than the bottle for the initial section then have it run down under the carpet and out one of the firewall holes etc etc will making the hose longer fix my problem im thinking not but im starting to run outta ideas

"Just driving around" isn't where you need this sort of thing, this is the kind of thing that benefits you on a race track.

No this wont work because the final point will be lower than the initial point.

This is pretty simple, Just put the tank lower than the end of the hose.

Or you could do like some one said with a t at the highest point with a check valve there.
