Intercooler Questions....
I guess i have to take out my fog lights for the intercooler and relocate my battery, i understand the battery but is there any way i can keep the fog lights?, i think they make the car look nice as hell, i'll miss those things....
they said the piping would be approx. 2 1/4 from the manifold to the intercooler, then something like a 2inch hard pipe, sound good?...
installing the whole thing, with relocation of the battery and all will cost $1500 canadian, TOPS....
what you think?...

yeah i know, i want to keep the fog lights, but the intercooler sits between the frame rails, they were thinking of putting the intercooler where the radiator is, push the rad towards the engine about 2inches and run dual electric fans....
they said it would work but i'm worried about heatsoak and all....
i guess if i HAVE to sacrifice my fog lights for the intercooler i will....

you're going to pay $1500 for someone to make you an IC setup that is going to require modifications to your rad, make you lose your fog lights, and consist of 2" and 2 1/4" piping?
uhhhh.. who is the shop doing this?
you're getting hosed....but it's your money...

never said i was getting it done, those were the 2 options i had infront of me....
take out the fog lights to have room for the piping....
or
put the intercooler right infront of the rad, push the rad back and go that way....
yep $1500, though this is what it includes....
intercooler
piping
powdercoating
battery
battery relocation
TB mod
and a strut tower bar....
:P
if you know of another place that can do it for cheeper and does clean work i'll gladly take advice....

ah...series5, not sure if you can keep the fogs or not....i dont have those, BUT (!!!) here is the set up anyway...actually, the pics i just took were too large in file size. SOOOO, if you would like to wait about 10 minutes or so, i will start a different thread some thing along the lines of (finally, my fmic set up!!) or some thing similar. anyway, be back in 10.

i think i'm going to be going v-mount (with proper sealed ducting)the reason why i came to this decision is:
shorter piping
no need to remove AC/PS/Battery/windsheild washer
radiator/oil cooler still get direct airflow
no removing/ cutting bumper/ bumper skin
looks cool ()
going electric fan anyways
supposedly it doesn't cool as well but it still has to be better than top-mount
and you get to keep fog lights if you have them

why don't you just pick up an old style greddy or hks IC setup? it routes both pipes through the passenger side.. you can keep your p/s and a/c and fog lights.. you don't need to do any hacking of the rebar to make it fit... It's a smaller core than the new greddy kits etc but I think it does just fine... 2 1/4 hot side and 2 1/2 pipe on the cold side... I'm running an hks setup on my fc with my TD07 at 15 psi and it handles it fine.. I don't have any coolant temp issues (at idle I see 83 C, running on the track I don't go over 93 C) and air temps are manageable (usually 4-5 degrees higher than ambient at cruise and max air temp I have seen on an extended boost run has been 50 C) ... Not to mention you can pick up these systems pretty cheap on ebay and on the fourms... I've seen at least 4-5 of these kits up for sale the last little while...

wow.... i'll have to definitly look into that, do you have pics at all of your setup?...
yeah i dont think the piping will fit through that small of a space on the right side of my engine bay but i guess i will see what they think/say first....
i dont like the idea of hacking my car either....

buy a generic core , get endtanks that have 2.5 outlet and inlet that face the correct direction , vibrant racing sells aluminum piping but its a little pricey im sure someone on here knows where to find it easier than that, but for less than 1000 you could have a very nice setup. dont buy a name =D

im right along with you i personally think its tacky to show the piping and connectors.. thats why im not front mount yet..... im not willing to spend 1500 and up on a new crush zone either
