intalling after market intake using 86' air flow meter

How do i intall an intake using the stock 86 air flow meter? I bought a cone filter for my 86 RX-7 and found it wasn't going to work i might try an 89 mass air flow scensor but i really dont want to spend that much money to do this i would like to use my 86 meter.
Any help would be great thankyou.

You can't mix and match the series 4(86-88) AFM to the series 5(89-91) AFM. Depending on the cone filter you got It might work with the intake adapter available at:

www.k2rd.com
