Intake o-ring?

okay i bought a beck/arnley gasket set for my s4 t2 and the water o-rings are too big? did anyone have this problem with their o-rings? Now I have two choices 1) put on the intake gasket and use rtv red gasket maker on it. 2) Order new o-rings from mazdatrix(does anyone know if these will be a perfect fit?) and try those. if anyone has a easier solution to fixing this then let me know.

Mazdatrix has all oem replacement parts on their site from what I know of , gaskets and everything should of been purchased off mazdatrix to begin with. As a rule of thumb you never want to use anything but oem parts for most things you replace on your rx7 because aftermarket companies usually make products that arent as good as oem and alot of the time will cause problems that would have been completely prevented by using oem parts , but Im sure there are
some exceptions. (dont know if what youre needing is one of them)

So I would just wait it out and get the parts from mazdatrix so you know youre using all the right oem parts and not some cheap aftermarket parts.

Mazdatrix O-rings will be a perfect fit.

I used them, and they were fine.

if you run the car without the orings the coolant will seep into your new gasket and warp it. i had a similar thing happen where my orings were not installed correctly and it caused a vacuum leak that made my idle suck(and i had to buy a new gasket). just wait it out till the orings arrive

OEM o-rings are still a little larger than the machined groove in the housings, you have to roll the o-ring into place. even the o-rings you find in the plumbing section at home depot will work for this application, i needed some for my own motor a long while ago and they worked just fine. i believe the size was 2 1/8" or 2 1/16"

just dip one side in and you have to tuck the other side into the groove, if it won't hold in place by doing that then it could very well be those o-rings supplied are too large. i haven't dealt with that gasket kit personally so i can't say for sure but i do know the OEM o-rings are not exactly a perfect fit either.

The holes in the housings are 1.88" (30.19mm).

The stock o'ring is under that by 0.020"-0.030".

Those o'rings will stretch a bit especially if you've put vaseline on them or been rolling them with your fingers with vaseline and unconsiously been stretching them.

With the technique stated above, put a liberal amount of Vasoline on the oring, and that will hold the oring inplace while you install the LIM.

yeah i tried that too, but the o-rings were too big. i mean it was impossible to even fit the entire o-ring without one side popping back out.
