Intake Mods

As of right now, my 88 SE is completly stock. I would like to buy an air intake mod for the increase in hp.

Are there any kits online that I could buy that has everything I need to finish this task? Cheap? Good?

How much hp are we talking about here? I'm kind of a n00b when it comes to these things. I would like a simple installation guide, thing, whatever.

Thx for the info, guys.

Click the link at the top of the page for RX7store.net, they have a couple kits on there. RX7.com also has one too.

Cheapest would be ebay. They are all basically the same, I would just shy away from the HKS foam style filters.

If you still have your airpump, you will also need a breather filter for that. I believe the RX7.com kit comes with a breather filter with the kit, but im not sure.

BTW you could also get a breather filter at Oreillys or Autozone, you dont need to buy it in the kit.

Because the air from the airpump gets routed into the rear rotor, I didnt have one for like a month because I didnt know, but I just removed it.

what does what do? The breather filter filters the air entering the airpump, which eventually goes through the rear rotor.

What does the air pump do? Supplies air to the ACV, air control valve. Air is routed to different locations for different reasons. Air goes to the exhaust port, the converter, or to the relief hose. Used mainly to clean up emissions and ensure all excess fuel is burned. On an S5 the air pump is also used to actuate the auxiliary ports and the VDI valve.

The air filter filters air entering the engine. If you put on a cone filter, you need to put something over the air pump inlet as well. Like a breather filter. Mainly to keep any pebbles, dirt out of the pump.

Thx for the places, guys.

So far, the only one I see is the one from RX7.com. RX7Store doesn't have a kit for my year (88).

I'll probably be picking it up soon.

Thx again.
