Intake Manifold

Hey guys, I was just wondering, I am going to put in a GT35R Turbo into an S5 TII motor, but because of how my manifold and turbo's are, I have to change the LIM and UIM from the stock (good time to anyways) so I was just wondering whether an FD LIM or an RE will fit ? and if it doesn't can I buy spacers to fit it with?

thanks for your help guys!

what manifold are you using that won't allow clearance of stock intake? i have a 35R on the hks cast manifold and it clears no problem.

short answer=no. you can make the FD UIM work with the s5 t2 LIM with a spacer or some port matching/filling.

why not just use a spacer?

Sounds like you may be trying to mount up an exhaust manifold designed for the FD.

I had a similar issue with my setup, and I ended up making a custom offset adapter; very similar to the one that the MR2 folks use. Here is a pic of one of the CAST adapter for the MR2. Mine is similar, except that it is not cast, but SS; and the flanges are "OFFSET" by about 1/2 an inch or so.

sounds like the wrong manifold for the series engine, also make sure it's cast and none of the stainless ones, stainless manifolds just do not last.

there probably is ways to make either an RE or FD manifold work but it requires tig welding chunks of aluminum onto the manifold and port matching because a) the runners are significantly larger on later model manifolds and b) the bolt patters for the blocks are not even close to the same as a 13BT.

If you're talking about a spacer to fit the FD/RE LIM on the block, thats just brings the clearance issue back.

Make an exhaust manifold spacer as mentioned above (between turbo/mani or mani/block).

it's not clearing by only 1/2 cm which is like 1/4 of an inch >.<

it's hitting a lower section of the LIM

that's why I was asking, maybe I can get an exhaust spacer? or maybe stack 3-4 exhaust manifold gaskets on top of each other or something?

I'm telling you, it's barely not clearing >.<

well, have you tried reclocking the turbo or is it the main angled face of the compressor housing that is hitting the LIM? if it's just an ear on the compressor you can re-clock it or grind materials off both the LIM and ear to clear the needed space.

Post a picture of what you are talking about OP. You can find a flange adapter/spacer from the turbo to manifold. Maybe you can rotate the turbo housing if that is what you mean.

I agree it's prob the worng mani but a well built SS manifold will last a long time. Stop buying chinese ebizzle crap

If it's only hitting by 1/4", then get a flange from RB and gain 1/2" DONE. Or buy the right mani
