Intake effect on rad?
I'm thinking of plumbing my intake so that the cone filter rests in the front of the car, pretty much like this:
It would be great for cool air, but it would be sucking a lot of it (s4 turbo) that could otherwise pass through the radiator. Any input on how detrimental this would be on cooling efficiency? I plan on tracking the car in the future so engine temps can't be sacrificed.
Are there better places to put the filter, like under the pass. side headlight? I don't want it to interfere FMIC piping if I want to get one later. What have you guys done?

the vented headlight covers are great but can only let so much air in. It's not a huge deal, but if I can get that much more out of my car for just a bit of work, I'm interested! anyone else?

Even if you intake could suck enough air to make a noticable difference (which it can't), the radiator doesn't get any air from there due to those plastic ducts between the crossmembers up there.
Headlight ducts suck. Try measuring air temps at your cone filter at low speeds, or high speeds for that matter with the duct open and then closed. I seriously doubt you would see a difference.
What happens when the headlight is up? What about the headlight being in the way all the time anyways? The intake is taking up much more air than that measley duct could provide under the best conditions, so it sucks it in from the hot bay like usual.
Remote mount intake for the win.

I agree
those plastic ducts would come out if I put it there, so the intake actually has a good source of fresh air. then I'd add a cover on top so it doesn't end up in the engine bay without passing through the rad. with that said, it WOULD take away from air available for the rad. how much? i don't know if it matters. that's what I'm asking.

I really hope your filter doesn't mind getting soaked, especially if you end up behind another car in the rain and get his spray. Some of the off-brands are only oiled to repel water, but will still get water-logged when drenched while active. Can't really tell too well from the picture so it may be far enough out of the way, though.

I really wish people would stop thinking that the vented headlight covers actually provide fresh air to the engine bay. They don't. Just looking at the structure of the headlight and surrounding area will show you why.
