I personally use the Bonez Street-Comp Intake Kit, but depending on what year you get ('89-91) I'd use the APEXi intake system. But that depends on what kinda power you want and how much you wanna spend. You could just get a K&N filter and be done (prices range from $54-150). What kinda 2nd gen are you getting? Feel free to PM me (there's a PM button under you're posts) if you have any questions, I might not have hundreds of posts here, but I know my ****...I just don't post to some of the more obvious posts (read pointless), but I've been here for a while, and study RX7's and rotaries A LOT.

For a TII, make your own TID with parts from home depot and a K&N filter.
For a N/A, I'm not too familiar, but I believe there are some cold air intakes made by companies like checkpoint engineering, and mariah makes a cold air box with a headlight scoop for cold air intake.

Remember, the less bends the better air flow.

86-88 and 89-91 is way different....

89-91 buy a K&n cone with a 2.75" hole for $30-40.

for 86-88, buy a K&N cone with a 3" hole for same, and an adapter from k2rd for $20

those kits are a rip off.

the checkpoint engineering setup seems a ripoff for the price. $350 is too rich for a pipe with a filter on it for me.

you can run a 2.5" or 2.75" holed cone on it... no idea what the inside dia of the AFM is if that's what you ment.

Nah, I meant the outside. I'm trying to find a cone for my home depot TID. You answered that question though. Thanks.

can u run a 3" ID on an S5 without some sort of piping or adapter, like maybe wrap some tap around the hole to make up the gap or something like that?
