Question insurance

How much can should I pay for insurance on my 87 gxl?
I'm close to painting time, and need to know how much$$$ I shoud put aside for my first payment. I'm 19, no accidents, tickets, or other violations, and have been driving for three years. Any tips on getting lower rates? Maybe take my car to the insurance co lookin like crap when i get my policy so the dont see the full custom paint job that imma do? I can't afford to be payin $2 large$ for insurance!!!

Rates can usually be lowered if you voluntarily take a safe driving course, if you're a "good student" in high school or college, things like that.

Go to the website of your insurance company. They should have info on things you can do to reduce your rates.

if your under 25 you are gonna get screwed no matter what.

Maybe you'll get lucky and find basic insurance for $400/6 months.

But $1000+ a year is not uncommon for medium coverage levels with a younger driver in a sports car.

*edit
BTW: age 17-21 boys have the most accidents than any other age group, followed by elderly (65+) drivers, and just recently girls in the 17-25 age groups.

So even though you might be a good driver, your friends probably are not, and that will raise everyone's insurance, but mostly your age groups.

jebooth—I took your advice and called them. I've been getting quotes for months now in anticipation of putting the 7 on the road. These guys you mentioned were HALF of everone else's quotes! $369/YEAR!

Nice find!

I pay $98/month for basic liability on my 91 N/A. For my future TII, looks like the $134/month for liability will suck....

$400/yr/car with +25yrs/old, multi car, & homeowners discounts. Probably 0 points on my record right now as well.

That includes $8000/car theft coverage, $1500 deductable, & basic liability.

That's with progressive insurance.

Just liability on me is 115$/month for my 88 GXL. I've looked around, too, and it was the best I could find... I'll check out that link above..maybe i can save some serious money.

I pay a measily $135/mo for FULL coverage. But I'm 22 and also served in the military so I use USAA insurance.

Nobody should bitch and moan like the california people, well atleast for insurance. I checked out how much i'm going to have to pay for my N/A and its looking to be something like $3000 annually. Oh, i'm 19, and have accidents in my history, but a long time ago(3 years?). I'm currently looking for a way to register and pay some other nearby states insurance and still get coverage. ^_^ Good thing I'm not getting a turbo. Thats another increase as well. >_<

Wow, that's not gonna look good. My parents consider anything over $50 a month "expensive" and I'm considering getting an FC!
