Smile Installing T2 motor

I am planing to install a S5 t2 motor into my 86 GXL .I have been told it is easyer to use a stand alone to make the install way less painfull. my question is wich system will get the job done associated with cost and what I need . i am looking for at leats 300hp at the wheels. not planning to go over that. So I guess i am looking for the best bang for the buck. Thanks

wow thats going to be rough... i would go with an s4 turbo motor to make the wiring easier then go mega squirt for cost effectiveness.

intresting. How much do they go for. i guess using an S4 is not out of the question as long as I can locate one. i am hoping to get one wit hlow miles though to reducce cost on a rebuild. I have everything else for the swap but the motor for now. (drive train complete ready to go in) Are Jspec S4 motors availible with low Miles?

you can find many s4 turbo motors for sale for pretty dirt cheap. its also wise to pony up and have any used motor rebuilt. trust me on that. the megasquirt goes for 190$ but you have to build it all vs. haltech being a pretty much plug and play system

If you plug in the S5 motor, the only standalone I know of that still operates the oil metering pump is the PowerFC.

The advantage of a standalone is that you get to ditch the 20 year old wiring harness and start fresh. It also provides the foundation for future mods. However there is the associated cost of not only the standalone, but the tuning. If there is no one around that can tune the car and you are not capable of it, then you will probably end up in a world of pain with a car that never runs right.

For only 300HP, the stock ECU, a set of big secondaries and a S-AFC is more then enough.

Wow thanks for the info. would have been hell if I did all that and found out I would have to use premix to run my ride.
Aaron
