Installing Subs
(After searching throught the forum's records...)
Could anyone tell me if mounting subs (10" specifically) in the compartments of a 2nd gen has been attempted?
Where would one suggest mouting the amp?
I have most of the parts, but would appreciate some *sage* advice on location

If you talking about the little compartments behind the seats, my brother and his friend built me custom boxes to fit in there with my help. Let me tell you that was a bitch and it doesnt leave much room for your subs to get air. Basically i would just suggest you get a bandpass box and mount it inside the back. And for your question as to where to put the amp. I just mounted it behind the passenger side seat. Hope the helps you make a decision. I would really go with a bandpass box though. Good luck to you.

Anything will sound good in a hatchback...sealed or bandpass. Choose your box depending on how you like your music. As for the amp...for sure mount it behind one of the seats, that allows easy wiring under the carpet by the side kickpanel.

Compartment boxes
It isn't that I insist on them going into the compartments, however I don't intend on tinting the windows of my 10 AE, and would like to keep any stereo system low profile.
I would appreciate any referrals, as am reaseraching various methods.
Thanks!

go with teh bazooka 6.5" tubes. they are dual voice coild now. I fyou take a 100x2 amp and run each sub in parallel, it sounds incredible. I have the single voice coils now and they are awsome. I hit around 140 Dbs depending on music. I have heard the duals and they are much better. I have mine strapped right infront of the spar tire well, fireing into the corners. it is very hard to se them, so you don't have to wory about that. I am also going to paint them to match the carpet so it will be even harder. You will spen less on two of these then you would on subs and custom fabrication. check it out. You may even be able to find som used for about 1/2 price

Bazooka Tube
The good news - I already have the 2 10" subs and deck, needing an amp now, and place to put everything!

These two sites were suggested in a thread a while back - and they do have good information, but which method is preferable?

oh. I lifted the floor about 1 1/2 inches if you are wondering how i fitted that. Yes, I refabed the whole trunk. NO 3rd player in the back allowed!!!
I could take pictures of the flooring underneath the wood if you want so you can see how to stabilize it.

i do not know how low profile this is, but i have the same location for my component's in the doors, and am useing the storage boxes in the back with false floors to hold a ten disc changer, and my amp. the amp has a fan system to keep it cool when the lids are down.(which is all of the time) as for my sub, i have a single 10" that i made a box for with three chambers. the two outer or side chambers hold a set of 6 1/2 woofers that face toward the front, and the center chamber holds the sub. i made it so that wedged between the rear shock towers, and covered it in matching carpet. it does not call much attn. to it self if you cover the speackers with grille cloth, and looks quite stock.
