Installing sparkplugs

Do you need to lubricate any area with anything like the service manual says? like the threads?

I never have. And had no problems. But if it says it in the Manuel, then I guess it would hurt.

YEs, use anti sieze lubricant on the threads only. It will keep the sparkplugs from coldwelding to the housings.

I tend to throw anti-seize on the threads.
Anyone who has tried to wrestle a seized spark plug out of an engine would think like that!
In a pinch, engine oil on the threads is okay.

might as well buy some anti-seize, it's a couple bucks and you can use it on other stuff

Absolutely you ALWAYS want to use antiseize on EACH AND EVERY threaded surface that does not require sealant. This includes the spark plugs that have STEEL threads that go into an ALUMINIUM rotor housing.
