Question Installing Racing Harness

I'm wondering how i can install a racing harness into my S5 FC onto the passanders side, ( my drivers, i'm RHD )....

it's a MOMO harness where the 2 shoulder straps combine into one, where can i bolt this?...

Thanx!...

You attach it to the rollbar. Without a rollbar it's not a good idea, as there's no where to install it so that the angle is acceptable, or so that the length of the belts is short enough. It's best to install it so that the harness makes no more than about a 20-30 degree angle below the horizontal, otherwise you could compress your spine in a collision. If you install it far enough back to get a good angle, the belts are too long and will stretch too much during a collision, making it less safe. Also it's important to have seats that are compatible with a harness.

Without a rollbar and appropriate seats, a harness will be much less safe than the stock seatbelts.

Thrid one. You don't always need a rollbar. You can just attach them by screws to the body. That's what happened in my 240.

I'm sorry, but if that's something that you need to ask then I really don't think you should be installing them.

If you want to install those - even temporarily - they have to be mounted correctly.

As mentioned at the start, ou have to attach them as close to horizontal to your shoulders as possible. The only real way to do this with out acage is to weld a bar from anchor point to anchor point where the seat belts anchor to the body. (the upper most point in the stock belt or where you'd grab it from) Otherwise you're just making it more dangerous.

But if you're stuck for a seatbelt, what colou do you need? I have a black right side belt right here......

It's your body, you can do what you want, but just picture what will happen in an accident. A harness that is attached to the floor behind your seat won't help hold you upright any better than wearing suspenders on your pants.

Kirk Racing as well: http://www.kirkracing.com/index.cfm?...&CategoryID=30

You should be able to order seatbelt parts form the dealer or find them in a junkyard somewhere. The Canadian spec belts should be the same as the JDM ones.

Full cage on the street isn't a good idea, you could crack open your skull on it in an impact.

As for the seats, without proper seats where the harness can be restricted from falling off your sholders, the harness isn't a good idea as well, as they can easily slip off your shoulders in an impact as well, meaning they'll still be scraping you off the windshield.

IMHO it's rollbar + seats with harness holes + harness, or no harness at all, you need the other two.

most 'harness' bars I've seen go across to both sides. passenger needs harnesses too! lol.

on the link i sent you... scroll down youll see that the harness bar runs all the way across. its the thicker, intended to be that way, bar. not the skinny one on the LHD side. youll understand if you scroll down and look at the diagram. later.
