Installing a new flywheel

Ok so lets say all you have is a hydralic jack, four jack stands, 2 friends, basic tools, and your hands. Do you think I could install a flywheel by myself? I could also have access to a tranny jack, hopefully.

You're going to need an impact wrench to get the flywheel nut off. If you're going to do the pilot bearing, you'll need a pilot bearing puller.

otherwise, yes.

1. you go to the autoparts store, and ask them for a pilot bearing puller.

2. Sure, if 1. you can generate 300ftlbs of torque with your breaker bar, while on your back under the car, and 2. you can find some way to keep the bloody engine from turning while you apply said 300 ftlbs of torque.

if you want to use a breaker bar, you will have to use about a 4 feet cheater bar (a jack handle). But using the impact gun is so much easier.

oh, you will also have to find a way to stop the flywheel/enine from turning with the breaker bar... ie, a mazda SST - flywheel stopper tool...

Clicky here for bearing remover and other stuff...

The flywheel nut is a bitch. I watched a 3 foot cheater pipe break when my roommate was trying to remove it.

you can either get an electric impact gun instead of having a compressor to use an air impact tool
