Talking Installing N1 Dual

Picked my N1 dual up today and plan on installing it tonight. Any tricks or pointers that might help the installation? Or is it pretty much how it looks? lift it up and bolt it on?

Cheers

First off, let me say...I hate you, lol j/p. I've wanted one of those for a LONG time, but the wait was too long. First off, if you haven't soaked the bolts in Liquid wrench or something similar prior to getting that exhaust...your gonna have a long night. Also, get an impact wrench, new bolts and gaskets, and the rest should be easy...lol, have fun...

OH yea, where'd you get yours at?

Get someone to help you!! I did it by myself, but it was a pain in the ***. Someone to hold the exhaust in place while you put the damn rubber hangers on. I was using my feet. stomach and what ever else I could think of to hold it up. Hope that helps. Its real easy ony takes under a hour if the bolts are ok. Buy liquid wrench its great.

Talking

Thanks Guy's

I got the system from a local speed shop who brought it in from one of their distributors up here in Canada. If you want one bad trying some shops up here might be a good idea I know mine wasnt the only one sitting on a shelf in a warehouse.

As for the install, it wasnt too bad. I didnt use any liquid wrench, but didnt have any problems getting bolts and nuts off. I did however make the mistake of doing it myself. The factory system is f'in heavy, I had to use all parts of my body just like live4boost to get it off. It wasnt bad getting the N1 in because it's lighter and goes on in three different pieces. I attached everything with hand tools wrenches and sockets and I got everything as tight as I could, I didnt have access to any impact wrench.

I assume this is normal but the system smoked a bit and smelt a bit for the first boot I took it on, probaly nothing to worry about?

I have confirmed my boost gauge is wonky(autometer) cause it still only reads 5-6psi even though I have done the TID mod and this new exhuast, and the car feels exponentially faster.

Also with the new system I am now in the market for an S-AFC. I have done the MAF mod but it makes everything richer at all RPM's and that has made my idle a bit finiky.

As for how the N1 sounds? Good god it's loud. I have the RB downpipe, and midpipe and the car is very loud. It's not an annoying loud it's real deep and mellow almost. Also at highway speeds, around 70-80mph it doesnt drone at all, in fact it's rather quiet, now if you get on the throttle that changes in a hurry but for the most part it's a comfortable level to cruise at.

I recommend the system to anyone in the market for a new one, and doesnt mind the noise increase, or the fact the tips are a ricey 90mm in diameter

yeah should have listened to me. J/P The autometer boost gauge sucks. Mine still reads the same 5-6 but Im pretty sure it is the gauge or clogged cats. Have fun with your car. The burning smell is normal. It goes away quick. I noticed my exhaust got louder after about a month of use. When I am at cruising speeds I have to have the music on.

Correct me if I am wrong but arent almost all aftermarket fc3s exhausts loud? I am going to buy the n1 dual set up also and I currently have borla which makes a nice deep sound but feels a little restrictive. Does anyone have any other suggestions for exhaust?

I dont think the Racing Beat system is all that loud at all. The N1 is alot louder than the RB systems I have heard and it's also alot flashier, the thing is huge and you can see it from a mile away.

How much did you pay for the system from a shop versus online?
I see that is down to $525 US at the RX-7 store.

My problem with bringing it up from the States is the exchange, shipping, brokerage. By the time I added that all up even buying it for $550-600USD it was $1300 Canadian to get it to my house. $1300 is roughly what I paid from the store and they had one in stock not like the online vendors I had contemplated ordering from. It was alot of dough but I think it was worth it. It was the only system I wanted and it should last a relatively long time. I hung on to the factoy system as well so if I ever need to put it back on it wont be a problem.
