Installing Lowering Springs

I searched high and low for a tutorial on how to install lowering springs, to no avail. I recently purchased some Tein Lowering Springs (1") for my 87' base (N/A) but i'm not sure how to go about installing them. Could someone point me in the right direction or give me a link to a guide? Thanks

Well it is pretty straight forward. You need to rent some spring compressors. When I did mine I just jacked up the front then put on jackstands. Take off the wheels. Compress your spring then take off the nuts holding the bushing on the strut tower. Then take off the bolts holding the old strut to the control arm. Replace in reverse order. Do the same for the rears. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Well it is pretty easy but you will either need an impact wrench or a lot of pliars and another set of hands.

When you go to loosen the nut that holds the top spring mount on all that will happen is the entire center shock will spin and you will get nowhere.

The front I was able to leave them bolted in at the top and loosen the center nut with no problem but the backs didn't.

Once i've used the spring compressor to compress the spring, what do i do about the strut? Will it be under significant pressure that will make it difficult to remove or require special tools? If i simply unbolt it would i wind up wearing it ?

I was quoted $270 to get mine done at a local shop. It cost me 5 hours and $10 for a spring compressor rental. Plus you learn a lot doing it yourself. The front struts will come off without problem because there is a notch to keep the shaft from spinning. The rears will take some thinking. I ended up taking the whole rear assembly out and using vise grips on the shaft, and a ratchet on the nut, I was able to get it off. Of course this won't work if you reusing your old struts.
