Install new shifter bushing

My shifter is extremely sloppy. I bought new shifter bushings, but not to sure how to install them. Can anybody that has already done this give me some pointers??

I believe if you look around on www.mazdatrix.com, they have a lil how to on how to install them.
Dont remember the exact page but Im sure if you look around on there, you'll find it.

Probably should do the inner boot at the same time, it gets pretty grungy by the time the bushings are shot

I just did this shifter fix Saturday. White bushing goes in the hole, blue bushing on the shifter. That's about it, each with the spring attached to the back of it.

Feels like a new car.

before u install the bushings clean the old broken springs laying down inside the shifter holder.
I pull the broken old springs with a long needle nose plyers, just move the shifter rod into secong gear and youll have room to slide the needle nose plyers behind the shifter rod and pull the broken old springs and some olg gunk laying in there. then install your lower bushing with the spring the comes in the kit, after that install your upper bushing with the spring and gasket..
