Question injectors

how can you tell which ones you have? i think the engine or the injectors may have been canged. i have a 88 na vert. the injectors have a red top on them and the resistance value should be around 12-16 ohms i think, anyway i checked them and it was a lot less like 3-4 ohms. i was told that if they read low i should have a resistor pack-bridge under the air box. none there. any ideas. thanks ex...

Anything over a 87 and a half will not and did not come with a solenoid resistor pack. You havea 88 so you shouldn't have one. If you do have one located about eight inches below the afm, then you don't have a 88. It would have been aluminium in color about six inches long and two inches wide. Its my understanding the if you put the low resistance injectors in and run the car, that there is a good possibility of burning up the ECU, or at least the transistors in the ECU, that control the injector output to the injectors. I don't know what to add to that, except that if you've just checked the secondaries, then maybe the primaries are good and are 12ohms or there about. Puting a meter on ohms and checking across the two terminals on the injector is the way to check to see which injectors you have. That should be good enough. They also have a number written on the side. Real small numbers. But if they are 2ohm, they're two ohm no matter what the numbers say and if they are 12ohm, they're twelve ohm, no matter what the numbers say on the side of the injector. To make this a longer reply, the low impedence ones have a *keyway* located in the middle of the side of the plug. The high impedence ones have the *keyway* located off center. You might call this a *nub*, *raised spot* or whatever. Its a mating tang for mating the jack on the injector with the electrical plug that goes on the injector. Darn, out of words. So I'll attach a jpg of the injector keyways. Pay no attention to the yellow paint on the injector to the left. Its a one off thing.

I just returned from the wreck yard. I got a sunshade, gas cap, acv exaust hose, about fifteen nuts and bolts, AND one solenoid resistor pack for the total price of ten bucks. So if you do have a set of low impedence injectors and your car is indeed a 88, then it might not take much to make the two low impedence injectors work in your car. If no damage has occured at the ECU yet. I'm using the solenoid resistor as part of a fuel injector test setup I have made up(can't spell concocted).
