Injector Installation Problems

I sent my injectors of to get bloueprinted at RC Engineering and forgot what they looked like when installed. How many grommets and o-rings are supposed to be on each injector? I'm dumping fuel from a crack fuel line and I'm thinking from the injectors I just replaced. The o-rings and one rubber grommet are on the injectors now. SHould there be a grommet on the top and bottom ond the o-rings? The Haynes books SUCKS for pix. Thank you all.

One o-ring on the top, grommett on the bottom.

There is an o-ring at the top, and a grommet at the bottom. Be sure to coat both with vascelene or fuel prior to insertion in the fuel rail. Also, the primary fuel rail has a small spacer on the flange, so be sure you have reinstalled it as well.

Thanks guys. That was my problem…I forgot the grommets on the bottom. Well, I'll know tomorrow if I got it right this time. How can I check for leaks without actually starting the engine and replacing the UIM?

http://www.mazdatrix.com/c-6.htm There should be a grommet on the top and a grommet on the bottom with a oring in the groove. See the above url.

You're strongly advised to put new ones on. They get rock hard over the years and do not seat at the injector and cause air leaks that result in bumpy idles.

Thanks Hailers.

Last question—
On the block, when putting the injectors in (new o-ring and two new grommets) I noticed there was already a rubber grommet in the injector "hole." I'm thinking that it was left there from the injector. So now I'm not sure if there is ANOTHER grommet to be concerned with. This would make it 1) o-ring 2) top grommet 3) bottom grommet and 4) Inector hole grommet. I think I need to pull the fuel rails off AGAIN and look just to make sure they are on the top rail injector holes. I'm starting to feel like Rainman with a TII. Been feeling nauseous from whiffing fumes and it's 105 degrees here lately. I keep imagining the ambient heat just igniting the engine bay. Oh, and I cracked an oil line. I even said, "here's where I crack the oil line…" as my needle-nose pliers slipped off the vacuum hose and snapped the clear line down between the primary injectors. Joy. I swear those things break when you just think about them.

Back to the grommets. Now that I think of it, I can't remember if there were bottom grommets on the injectors when I pulled them out. I bet I left the other set in the top holes. Sweet.

I'm done ranting. It's the gasoline…I swear.

Those grommets were left from the other injectors. Trust me, I just went through this. If you want to check for leaks, you can tie strap the injectors unto the the rails, and pressurize the system. ITs a pain in the ***, but it will check for leaks. You can pressurize the system by Jumpering the fuel pump priming connector on the passenger side of the car and just switching the connector to on.

just light use a lit match to get rid of those fumes quickliy

The Mazdatrix site does not show it too clear, but the top grommet (dust seal) looks a touch different. It has sort of a groove in its middle.

I agree, the old seals got left in the engine when you pulled the injectors. Check for trash that might have been dropped down in the hole. Might be resting in those plastic *air bleeds*that are down in the injector holes. Don't remove the air bleeds unless they are obviously messed up. They are a bit delicate.
