Info & Help On This Specific FC

Hi all,

Im new to rotaries, and all of you have the best knowledge on these 13BT engines.

Its a FC Turbo.. which was advertized lately on PH, Ebay & Driftworks.. See pic.

Im trying to understand the mods.. The ad stated it had a knightsport ECU fitted.. Ive searched on here, and they dont seem to do very much?

8.8psi is the fuel cut correct? .. but the bloke said, he had a bleed valve on it, running 10psi.. hmm.. sounds abit corny..

Cutting to the chase, i want to get more power out of it, which is the best way to go about it?

Here is the important mods off the list (from the advert)

Tein coilover suspension
Brand new turbo back exhaust system.
lsd
No confirmed history on the engine, mileage is at circa 70k. Starts first time, every time, cold or hot. No issues. Previous owner suggested evidence of a rebuild but nothing confirmed but had the engine looked at who is a rotary specilist and he said its definatly had a rebuilb cus of how clean the engine is and how well and smooth is runs!!!
Now the ECU is fitted, the car will make 260-270ish at 0.9 bar. Car is currently running 0.6bar.

Any way you guys help? ..or shed some light on this car?

cheers

The Knightsport ECU is basically useless unless it was tuned specifically for that car. IE if it was bought on ebay, it's pretty much garbage.

All I've really heard is bits and pieces though. I've heard you have to run 91 octane gas with the ECU, and it makes the car run super rich.

As far as getting more power out of the car, you can do a lot of things.

Start with a good standalone engine management system, such as an RTek. I'd ditch the knightsport ECU though. Upgrade to a larger turbo, upgrade the fuel pump to a Walbro unit, a wideband O2, bigger injectors, and then either learn to or find someone to tune it.

Very sharp looking car though.

The Knightsports ECU probably removed the fuel cut.

FC3Spro is a good site but those sections are at least 7-8 years old so it doesn't reflect all of the current options available.

For an Rtek you would just have to pay international shipping to get one, it should work fine.

i think it may have removed the fuel cut..

"arghx" .. what do you think i should do ?

just MBC it to 10psi for now? would the injectors fuel that?

im pretty broke at the moment, but want some fun! only use it a couple of hours at night.

the JDM tuners, KS, amemyia etc all have different LEVELS of ecu tuning.

they can do stock with the cuts removed, or tune the ecu to the particular car.

its really hard to know what you have, in the us someone was selling a knock off chip...

i didn't read through the ads but it sounds like a ticking timebomb. 10 psi is max for the stock fuel system even with a chipped ECU.

basically for the goal of 250WHP you would need an adjustable piggyback ECU like the SAFC or an Rtek 2.0 and add more fuel, 720 secondaries and an upgraded fuel pump like FD fuel pump or walbro 255 and well flowing intake and exhaust, lastly possibly an upgraded intercooler, the stock top mount is going to start really hindering you past the 220 mark.

im in the UK, i dont know how to get hold of a Rtek 2.0 , or even fit it?!?! if i know where its soldered to, i wont have a problem!

if i fit the Rtek 2.0 , would this piggyback chip just be a plug and play, providing i had 720cc secondaries, walbro 255 and a FMIC?
ive already got the free flowing exhaust

cheers

the Rtek 2.0/2.1 is a full ECU. you send them yours and they will send you back the modified ECU which is a direct plug in unit which you can tune the car with versus a "chip" which is a bullshit modification same as the knightsports chips or any chip for that matter. yes, you will need a wideband sensor to tune it or find a tuner near you who can tune a rotary.

there's no such thing as a chip that anyone can send that will make your car more powerful unless the car meets strict standards.

yea, they're about $500USD, alternatively you can just go for a full standalone versus the modified stock ECU which will virtually give you no cieling for modifications, the cost for most typical full standalone ECUs is about $1100-1500 new or about $700+ used.

the Rtek is fine for lightly modified vehicles pushing up to and slightly beyond 300WHP, a full standalone like microtech/haltech/apexi powerFC can get you up to 700+ with the right modifications.
