I'm new to the site and have long been interested in the 2nd Gen RX-7. I've found a few cars I'm interested in, but I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what problems to watch out for in my quest to own one of these marvelous machines! Thank you!

PS I'd also appreciate a site where I can get some quality replacement parts at a fair price, because I know I'll need some. Thanks again!

Thumbs up my expierence.

Well. I can tell you this. I knew nothing about 7's when i got mine. So I looked for one that was damn clean. She gave me all the reciepts for repair, 80K mi. Now has 224K. Older couple that bought it brand new. When I drove it I tested it like any car. doesn't pull to the side when braking. No funny knocking or squeeking from the engine. smooth idle. Returns to idle smooth. Even acceleration. No backfire. No knocking from suspension. Look under the car for leaks. Just clean clean clean. I no finding one like this now is hard.

I can tell you I hate my tranny. I don't know how many people have this problem but I'm finding out once you need to rebuild these no turbo tranny's you might as well CAN the tranny for scrap metal. My next tranny will be from a turbo. My rear end took a crap at about 180K. I upgraded that to a limited slip found in the turbos. I do drive my car hard. I probably would still have the original drivetrain if I grama'd the ride. But what fun is that.
