Exclamation The infamous TII to N/A swap...unanswerd questions

So i have received a running 87 TII for 150 (long story). I am wanting to put the TII into my 89 GXL I have both engines out and the engine wiring harness the one that comes out on the passenger side. I know that my TII gauge pod is useless, my questions are 1: do i need the engine harness that comes out of the driver side into the ignitors , and do i need the harness that goes under dash to all internal electronics, or will this hook into the TII ECU. Please help i am sitting with both engines out and having to drive my G/F VW beetle

From what I understand the 89-91 wire harness will not plug into the 86-88 ECU and\or the other way around.

Save yourself the headache and don't convert between series. This makes it 10x worse than it has to be.

Oh boy is that the wrong way to go.

You will need to do some rewiring to get that to work.

A S4 TII engine has a mechanical OMP and S5's have elctronic so your ECU will throw you into limp mode if you use S5 electroinics.

Pretty much you need to run the engine as if it were a S5 engine.

Which means.
Get a S5 Turbo ECU.S5 LIM,UIM,AFM,Boost sensor,injectors,BAC,S5 front cover and elec OMP.

Or start to do major rewiring so the interioir harness of a S5 will work on a S4 engine.

Your better off getting a S5 turbo engine since they are supposedly able to drop in and plug in.

check out www.rotaryresurrection.com on the S4/5 swap.

Man now I'm glad I have a S4 car
