Ok, Im honestly skipping the whole part about the cop being a dick, or the racist joke he made about me going to McDonalds cause i had no family in america...

So anyways i was on my way back to DMV and the courts with my smog papers saying I passed. I also had a paper signed by the judge saying everything was due that day. I was about to be registered and get my ticket cleared.

Then i got pulled over by CHP. He would ask me a question and then just cut me off once i said 3-4 words. My first ticket was for no reg and no insurance. I got it on the way to my friends house to fix my sway bar and control arm. CHP gave me another ticket for the same thing and impounded my car. I tried to show him my smog papers and the paper from the judge but he didnt want to read them. He also said that his computer did say **** about me passing smog. I had the smog paper on me and my smog results had already been sent to DMV electronically.

Opinions? Do you think the second ticket will stick or be thrown out??

I left the country right after my first ticket and i just return a few months ago and im trying to handle the situation. They wouldnt let me get temp reg because i got one when i first got the car. DMV said i would be ok as long as i drive from smog to DMV...

Any idea on impound prices per day? This sucks *****... ******* haters

 

omg... FLUUCKK i feel u man.. I got impound long time ago having ahard time to register.. its usualy 30 bucks a day,and plus around $100 towing fee. CHP are dicks !!! they are when it comes to car enthusiasts, he didnt even want to hear u out huh. get ur car out asap Ull need to go to the sheriffs department and pay $93 countey release fee, but b4 that u have toshow the sheriffs ur registration is complete.so go to dmv first and finsih the registration, get insurance too. Then go to sheriffs pay $93, and then tehyll give u a release so go to the towyard and pay the towing fees....its guna be alot of $$....Its CA s way of making bank..scam, shady.....

 

if u dont get ur car out in a month or something, they will auction ur car..

It's typically a large initial sum, followed by a hefty daily after that. The general average is ~$100-150 initially followed by $25-50 daily after that.

First thing's first, CONTEST THAT ****. Talk to the judge, he'll probably be understanding. You can most likely have it dismissed as long as you weren't doing anything wrong and you had your papers.

Why were you pulled over in the first place? On what grounds?

 

well, getting registration and already having it are two separate things.

Technically you were not allowed to drive the car on the street because you hadn't gotten it reinstated yet.

It's a catch 22 if that's your only ride but that's the law.

Also, In AZ you can get 3 day temp tags for moving the vehicle from point to point when it's being repaired to meet smog/just purchased/etc.

your lucky they didn't take it when they wrote the first ins/reg ticket. Opinion, get INS at least before you drive. I have gotten out of a bunch of reg tickets by having INS. Impound fees will range from $200 to hook up and tow, then expect 30-50 bucks a day.

They didn't take it the first time because i had car parts all in the front seat so he knew i wasn't talking B.S.

I got pulled over for the beautiful 05 tags on my plates haha. I wouldn't have drove it if the DMV lady would have told me something diff.

So even if the ticket is thrown out i still have to handle all of the fees for getting my baby out right?

No, i had one before i left the country. They wouldn't let me have another when i returned to the country... The DMV worker told me i would be ok as long as i only drove to the smog place n DMV. I wasn't out going for a joy ride. I don't even drive the car because of tags.

 

yes......to get it out, it must be reg in your name and insured with all fees paid, or the towing company will not release it.

 

i got my car impounded at da ontario races...2 weeks ago n it was $400 to get it out n i got it out the very next day...n they said it was 50 buxkz for evry day to have it there....i had to get get a realese from the cops all that was needed was my reg. The towing comp did not ask for nothing else....an aside from that i got my fresh rebuilt back blown!
