Imported Rx7
Hi everyone, Im nee in here, my english is not well but I will do my best. I have a Honda civic im trying to sell it for a Rx7. Do u recommend to get a Rx7 92 from japan? if yes, What I need to look before buy it ..? The guy told me the car have 36660 miles ( 59000 km).
It is a big difference between 92 and 93 engine,etc ? 92 is more weak than 93?
Thx for the help.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they made an FC in 92. Maybe they did in japan? But isn't the last year for the FC 1991? Regardless, if you can get a rx-7, 3rd or 2nd gen, with only 36600 miles on it i would definitely go for it! Kinda sounds too good to be true to me though!

89-92 turbo is 200 (maybe 212) horsepower. That's 150kW.
89-92 N/A is 160 horsepower. That's 120kW.
93-95 is 255 horsepower. That's 191kW. 93-95 also has a twin turbo, so it starts faster than the earlier turbo.
All 3 respond well to upgrades, especially the turbos.
2nd generation is 1986-1992 (FC). 3rd generation is 1992 and later (FD). The two cars are very different. The 3rd generation is also smaller, better looking, has a bumpier ride, handles turns much better and is much more expensive. The 3rd generation is a much better sports car, but many people like the 2nd generation because it is much cheaper, much easier to maintain and still very good.

1. you CAN get a 92 RX-7 from Japan but it will be an FD so you're in the wrong section of the forum. Unless you're talking about an FC, in which case you better look for 91 or earlier.
2. If you cannot find an RX7 in Canadia then Importing a JDM car WOULD be the next step.
3. IF you want to KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR the I would search the forum for the threads regarding this subject (either in the FD section or the FC section, depending on how long it takes you to figure out what you're talking about)
4. if you're talking about an FD then there are no differences in the motors between 92 and 95.
If you're talking about an FC then there ARE many differences in the motor between a 91 turbo coupe/92 turbo vert(assuming there ARE 92 turbo verts from japan) and a 93 Twin turbo ( about 55hp difference).
you need to do a lot of research before you go waste money. You will either **** people off for not searching or be upset when you buy a car that has huge problems that could have been avoided by searching for the commonly asked questions.
You might have a hard time searching in the next couple of days ( I just did a search and it was a bitch. Doable but just time consuming) because the forum is acting up. I suggest you hold on for a couple of weeks before you make any moves. I hope the forum problems get fixed within the next two weeks so no one can use the "the forum search feature is broken" excuse for not searching.
ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS CAN BE FOUND VIA the search feature so you should not be making any more threads until you have a problem that searching cannot fix or when you have a car lined up and would like opinions on it.
I need to see pics of your car BTW. My curiosity is getting the best of me.

This model must be a FD ... nice looks etc. I want to send the picture about the engine but I dont know how to post right here ... if any1 can help me about that please. Under the hood its red ... I think the guy didnt pay a lot to paint the car. You must see what he did to get air for the P-Flow....

280hp? Don't think so. NOt on the 92-95's. Near new motor with 59K miles looks good though.
I like the cosmo better because you don't see them every day.
My thing is:
If you're going to waste your time and money importing/buying an imported car then you should get something COOL that not too many people have seen/can get a hold of
like:
One of the similarly priced Skyline GTRs or
A Mitsubishi GTO (the twin turbo VR4's)
or a turbo altezza
or an AWD turbo Celica (with the MR2 motor)
or an early model MItsubishi lancers like an V or a VI.
or a 98 STI Impreza 2 door
If I lived in canadia I'd get a car that I wouldn't normally be able to get a hold of. Both the U.S. and Canadia got the RX7's (both FC and FD) and importing it seems like a waste when you can own a GTR skyline for the same price.
I wanted to see your civic but I kinda lost interest already. Go to the correct section and see what they tell you.

the skyline is soo played out now you for sure see a few daily. R32s , no 33 or 34s as there ilegal still
celica awd nothing, special
gto is a pig of a car and dont find special at all ,
the evos are just arriving now ( the IIIs I believe ) and that might be a nice car to get at 6-9k
and imprezas are comming in also. as well as the mkiv
out of all those cars the FD is definilty the nicest looking .
but needs the most care.
I checked out that FD they have for sale las week when i was in mtl and its in good condition. So sell teh civic and buy the FD

Im from ottawa, 2 hours away.
Im not in the market for a car right now. But went with a buddy that picked up a R32 GTR .
Theres some nice ones with T88's for around 16k but not nice looking.
but back to FDs, that one is nice, has a repaint and coilovers and some other goodies and is in good condition, if you go to nagano they have a few for 10-11k but they look nasty , as in I wouldnt buy them for more than 4-5k .
Its better to pay that extra little and get a nice perfect condition one VS saving some money now and having to Spend **** loads in new parts.
And trust me some of those cheap FDs over there that I saw looked like nuked cars.

Yeah, go to the 3rd generation section. That car is an "FD" or 3rd generation RX-7. Even with only 59,000km, it is still possible to abuse the motor. Especially since he has upgrades. Find a guide and examine it carefully in person. Also find a rotary specialist and tell him to examine it before you buy. If that car is in could shape and you buy it, you should get it tuned to run richer to protect against knocking. You need to do this becaue it has upgrades. If you don't, it might knock hard some day and suddenly destroy the motor; even if it performed great before that day. Most FD owner's don't tune it rich after upgrading. Most FD owners also replace their engine frequently.
Read and learn more. It it is a lot of work to take good care of an FD . If you don't, it will be a lot more work to fix it.
