The importance of pre-mixing

I'm just curious as to the difference of an engine that was run with pre-mix as opposed to one using just the OMP. I'm asking those who have done a rebuild on both and seen the internals.

I personally deleted the OMP on both my FCs and run a 1:100~1:50 premix in the fuel tank. When I get around to my FD for a rebuild I'll do the same. It's a minor inconvenience; especially when it's cold, but I don't mind doing it.

If there is no real difference though as long as the OMP works, I guess I may just leave the OMP on my FD and on the engine I'm going o be rebuilding for my FC.

There have been long discussions in the past many times regarding this. Some people swear that premx is better, some swear that it doesn't matter.

One such topic is in the archives with the title something like "OMP premix mod write up". You can also search for "premix benefits", "premix advantages", "premix" and my name as well as ReTED and RotaryResurrection.

In my opinion, the jury is still out since solid scientific testing of premix vs. the stock setup has not been done.

yeah, I was hoping soem new info had surfaced! I've read alot about it and still had no concrete conclusion. I undertsand I can't go wrong by premixing, but the inconvenience is not so good on those far-below-zero fill-ups. The oil thickens up so quick and gets hard to pour into my funnel!

I'll do some more archive reading.

If you have problems with the premix thickening, try pouring some gasoline into the bottle and then pouring that mix into the gas tank?
The gasoline should have some "antifreeze" additives, and the dilution should be enough to pour smoothly into the tank?
I've done this in Sac / Vegas winters that are right about freezing no problems.

i have torn my motor apart after premixing for 20k miles with literally no stuck carbon and torn apart stock motors and seen the carbon buildup from the stock OMP system, i've already made up my mind but everyone has their own opinions.
