Can I use a Twin TPS as a single TPS?

I have a JDM TII engine. It is an S4(Mechanical OMP), but it came with a Twin TPS setup like an S5. My harness and ECU are set up for a single TPS so I split the sensors and am currently only running front sensor(The one with the Green/Red and Black/Red wires). Will this work right? I set the TPS to 1k ohms with it at idle, but I am having rpm bounce issues at speeds greater than 1700rpms. Could running this sensor instead of a normal single TPS be causing this?

If you are running S4 wiring you should have the S4 TPS...

#1 Bumps are forbidden here in the 2nd Gen RX-7 Technical section. Your mutiple bumps have been deleted. Mutiple bumps (besides making you look like a spoiled child who thinks your question is more important than anyone else) often make it look like that question has been answered by mutiple people. Many of the long term posters here ignre questions that ther have been mutiple answers such as what you made this thread look like.

#2 The S5 TPS can be used if you dis-assemble it, and take the short range TPS out and mount it into the S4 mount. It is not plug and play, as the plugs and mounts are entirly different. Of course a multi-meter will still be required to set the TPS as well.

That is what I did. I took out the back sensor and only kept the front. Set to 1k at idle. The rpms still bounce at 1700rpm and above. Sorry about the bumps. I am rather new to the forums. Thanks for the reply Icemark and 13b4me.

stil bouncing means the TPS is still not set correct.

Try setting the TPS with the resistance at the ECU

Hey Iceman,
I took your advice and tried to set the resistance at the ECU. I checked the resistance between the green/red TPS wire and the brown/black ground(These two correspond to the Green/Red and Black/Red respectively on the TPS). The resitance was about 800ohms. This is about 200ohms less than the resitance at the TPS itself. As I move the throttle pedal, the resitance increase to about 1250ohms and then fall to 1100ohms at full throttle. I know the TPS itself goes to about 3850ohms at full throttle. Is this correct or is there a problem here?

Disregard my last post. I had the battery connected and there was some voltage leak. I went ahead and checked the ohms again. It reads 1000ohms at idle at the ECU. With the pedal floored, it reads 3500ohms. The TPS itself (reading it off the car) goes from 1k-4.5kohms, but not when on the car. Is this just a bad TPS or is my linkage screwed up?

You need to have the TPS unplugged and warm when setting it

why not just take the tps off the old na intake and bolt it onto the TII intake?
the holes line up then just plug it in and set it.

The range on my GSL-SE unit is totally different. With that one, the thing would bounce by 500+rpm.

My thought exactly. The only problem so far is that none of the yards near my have a S4 TPS. Most yards don't have RX's, the few that do no longer have the motors. One shop has an 87 with the motor, but someone already snatched the TPS.
