I'm scared to modify my car...kinda long

I have a 10th AE and have had it for about 8 or 9 months, every since I have had it I get nothing but responses that I should be careful and to keep it original...I know it's my car and I can do whatever i want to it, but it troubles me. I do want to change the exterior of it some but at the same time I don't, i don't want to hurt the name of this car. I've had many thoughts of trying to sell it to someone that would dearly adore the 10th AE and not destroy like I know I would...I know it's sad. What do you think? should I sell it and get something that I could really do what I want to and really modify it? I think i should but I figured I'd get other peoples opinion.

I think, I think chiquita banana.........................

Anyways, get something you think you can modify if you're too "scared" to mod yours because its retail price will go down. Why have a car you cant have fun with because it would bother you too much.

Get a Honda if u are scared of the RX-7. Honestly though, you are modifying the car because you want it to be better, its value might decrease, you wil be glad to know that you made it what it is, its sentimental value will be more important than its monetary value, and if you think what i just said is stupid, u should not own a 7.

just keep your stock parts and don't do anything that can't be undone. like cutting big holes etc.

Don't sell it, then some idiot will be driving it. They'll put some stupid LED exhaust tip on it and a bunch of stickers. The most important thing is that the person driving it won't be you!

IMO the whole AE thing is over rated anyway. Do what you want to YOUR car. If you want to be ****, take Scott's suggestion. (I'm not making fun of the suggestion, it makes sense)

Also, you can make some decent mods that don't compromise the uniqueness of the car. Parts that wear out, the exhaust being an easy one. (shocks, springs, tires, etc)

Hey hey hey me no stupid me very smart, bery bery smart inded.

Heh anyways, Ive told him not to worry about the 10AE thing before and that it was his car and he should do what he wants to it, but he's concerned about it's retail price going down because he is going to be selling it sometime in the near future I believe.

if you do any mods I'd get the foam K&N Filter drop in replacement, I have one I'm not using I'll let got for 25 bux, and prolly get the 2.5 turbo back from racing beat looks and sounds stock, and with the stock air box and TID you won't have to worry about over boosting, as for exterior mods I'd leave it the same because there collector car, get a none AE if you wanna make it into a beast....

Scott's right. I have a 10th as well and I have a big bin of stock parts incase (which I doubt) that it goes back to stock. So far the only hole I've had to make was in the firewall (low on the pass side) for bulk head battery connector. For my custom battery tray behind the pass seat, I used existing holes in the floor, although rivits or self taps will be needed towards the front (those won't go through the floor to the outside). The only big hole that will have to be made is for the recessed alum panel for the kill switch and charging terminals. I have to cut out some of the license plate frame, ditch the spare and cut out some of the metal behind the plate. This way I can stay legal at the track, but with the plate on, no one is the wiser. My feeling is that once the car is done, it'll be worth more than blue book, but obviously less than what I'll have in it. Unless I find someone that wants a 45,000 orig mile haltech, T04 or GT3540 (still haven't decided), FMIC, braided line, no PS and no AC..etc..etc, 10th anniversary for approx $13,000?? Then I plan on keeping it till the day I die.

hehe, if the person you sell it to doesn't know there's a hole somewhere and don't ask about it.... then is it really there?

Go here for a couple of pics of mine.

http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291377127

They are in an unfinished state, but they give you an idea of what I'm doing to mine. Still to come are new paint, custom locations for gauges, etc.

I'm glad to hear that you're doing it the way you want!

Reese
