yeah the screen thing should work but as far as looks dont know . you could always just paint it a flat black . shouldnt do any harm, i've had a few friends do it to their cars. you should maybe wait on cranking up the boost for a lil bit just so you can see how the motor runs and go from there.but after that their shouldnt be anything wrong

dude good luck with the swap i live up in Duluth MN...about 2.5 hours from you thats great we should get together some time i'm finishing a ported Jspec swap with Microtech a+ goodies....you should be really happy with the swap but i would really recommend a TII rear end that damn N/A just won't hold much and it's a bitch to change out axles once every other month...

I deploy second week in Sepember so if you wanted to swing up there's some cars we could chew up together up here....

pm me if you wanna get together or something

I just want to vouche for Japan2LA's engines. I did alot o' reading before I bought my Jspec from him. He has a bunch of great reviews! His prices are a little higher (I could of got a S5 Jspec and transmission elsewhere, for what I paid for just the Jspec s5 engine alone from him) but overall he had the best reviews of any individual, or business I could find. So, I ordered an engine from him. He shipped it in a timely mannor, and it was in good shape when it got here. It had a couple broken parts on it but they were little, and I had the parts from my old motor... Anyhow, The main thing I was concerned with was the internals. Was it going to run?!?! I put it in, and it fired right up! Had to work out a couple bugs (small boost leak and a coil problem) but now its running very nice. Just gotta fix the O2 sensor and I will have a perfect running TII!

As many threads ive read about people getting junk Jspec engines, I think Brian at Japan2LA is a pretty safe place to spend the money. Its not worth taking a big gamble, and saving a couple hundred buying somewhere else. Good luck with the swap!!!

oh and you should try using "furnace filter" it's dark as hell but flows like it isn't there i few of my friends have used it.....i thought about painting mine and was highly advised not to...i have friends that have done that too and no problems but i don't wanna risk it myself

Yeah, I read the one bad review he had... I think that guy was unpleasable. As far as I see it, majority rules. And the majority (99.9%) were happy with his engines. I think you made a good choice. If he didnt give you the checklist of things to replace, just make sure you replace the...

Oil/filter
coolant
get injectors cleaned
get a new waterpump
get a new thermostat
Be easy on the engine for a while. Let it loosen up as it probably hasnt been run in a while.

I did all of the above except the injectors(what can i say, im poor!!), and im having very good luck with my engine. Make sure you watch the engine like a hawk upon initial startup for any leaking fluids. These engines HATE heat, so 1 overheating could kill it off. Be careful, and good luck!!

all S4 water pumps are the same, regardless of motor.

It's the water pump housing that is different

You can run without one.

It only works on less than WOT and less than 4000 RPM.
