i'm new here need some info
hi guys i'm new here.i want to buy a 86-90 rx7 but i don't have that much money.i have seen some rx7s in the autotrader,and i saw a 86 rx7 GXL for $1700 how much hp does this one have.can i put in an engine that has turbo,or can i just turbo it, how much for turbo
thank you in advance.i have a 99 civic ex that i'm sick of cuz i'm doing payments and dont have money to put
any **** in it to make it faster cuz civics have sorry *** engines.i got it last year.if i would of known better i would of got a 93+RX7.thats why i'm saving some money to get a 86+RX7

an 86 has about 140 hp. you can turbo the engine but it is verrrrrrry complicated. you can also swap it for a turbo motor but there are a lot of parts involved that have to be swapped.there is quite a bit that can be done to make a non turbo fairly fast though. hope this helps

Read through the Stickies, use the Search button in the upper right hand corner of your screen, and feel free to post a new thread if you have any additional questions.
As for your initial questions, the rotary engine generally has a very flat power band, but less torque than a piston engine of the same peak horsepower. On the turbo issue, a TurboII RX-7 is only about $500-1,000 more than a similar non-turbo model of the same year and condition, so you are almost always better off just buying a TurboII if you want a turbocharged car. Also, the TurboII comes with a heavier transmission, driveshaft, differential, and halfshafts to handle the extra power.

mac_dad6 evil aviator thanks for your help guys it would'nt hurt to wait a lil wile more to get a turboII
i like that stuff you told me evil aviator about the turboII having beefier driveterain that made the turboII sound very agressive i like that
