Angry Im An Idiot

ok ill start off by saying im an idiot... i have an 87 N/A and in the past somebody robbed in my car and shattered my driver side window so i got a new one form a window shop... and today i was working on my car and i let it run for a bit because i was doing my breaks... and i turned my car off cause it was running for about 10 min... and i had to get to work really fast and i wasnt using my car so i locked my doors and forgot my keys inside.... is there anyway i could stretch my window without breaking it because it looks like the window goes inside the weather strips... ive seen the thread on how people robbed in these cars but i dont feel like messing up my body... any ideas anyone?

Um a locksmith? or Onstar (available on 51 GM vehicles) lol

http://www.ehow.com/how_117130_retri...ys-locked.html

Either that or most shops have a slim jim lying around. If someone is nice, they will let you borrow it. If you cant do that, your gonna have to call a locksmith. Although most people just break the window cause its probably cheaper than the locksmith coming to the site. Good luck though!!!

Well depending how long you have to wait you can buy a slim jim online lol. But like I said, if you have a mechanic that knows you or something, Im sure they have one they will let you borrow.

you could call a mazda dealer and see if they can get the key code and cut a key for you, usually they can get the code from the VIN of the car on newer vehicles. that is how we get into cars at the dealership when keys get locked in them because they are tough to slim jim these days..

That weather strip is a snap in. Just pluck it off, it'll be on there good, but you won't **** up the body. From there you could use a coat hanger or something to pull or push the lock mechanism. I don't break into cars so I got no clue how to do it.

2 methods you can use here. Either take a flat head screw driver and pop out your window sill and then use a piece of wire you shaped into a hook to pull the trigger behind the lock. Or wrap a thick flathead or other pry bar with a cloth and jimmy it between the window frame and the car till its open enough to get the wire in there, hook the window pull, or if you have power locks, hit the switch.

Take the title to your local Mazda dealer and have them cut you a new key. 2 minutes and 7 bucks later you'll have your extra key.
If you're wiling to spend money on a slim jim yo may as well just get the other key. Having an extra key is a smart thing to have anyway.

Yeah I would recommend this one lol. You should have an extra key at home anyways. I didnt know they could do this with older cars. News to me.

I asked the Mazda dealer about getting a key from the VIN. They told me some crazy price and it would be about a week before the key would come in.

I beg to differ. I can't speculate on how many Toyota key combinations there are. I do remember right after my Grandfather died, my uncle couldn't get the ignition switch to turn in my Grandmother's Toyota Sienna. After a minute or two, he realized he was using the key from his Toyota Camary.

Dude, cant you call a company and get them to unlock it for you?, i mean here in alberta it's $20 canadian and they just "pop" and away you go, that would be your best bet, if you dont know how to use a slim jim properly ( not saying you dont ) you could bust your lock on your door ( happened once, stupid me ), but then again, thats my $0.02, hope it helps....

LMAO: I've done this countless times with other vehicles. I used my dipstick once on my Lincoln MK7 and the antenna on my Plymouth Sundance. This procedure comes highly recommended!

Hey there, rx7's are the most easiest cars to break into, just do what other people have suggested, and use a slim jim or a hand saw, a 30cm metal ruler, all u need to do is use anything to wedge inbetween ur weather strip and window, doesent even need to be a big gap, get ur tool of choice, and poke it down inside the door, to roughly where the lock is, and hey presto, it'll open. I always lock my keys in any cars i've owned (always in a rush, even left my keys my car running for a couple of hours once,), and the rx7 has proberly been the most easiest. With out a word of lie, it'll take me less than 5 seconds to get into my 7. i aint no car theif, but people are always locking there keys into cars, and the cheapest way to get them out, is to do urself, not hard.

You may find that the core of your door lock is in such poor shape that you can open it with almost any key at all - just push that key about halfway in and twist.

And the last time I locked my keys in my s4 I used a coathanger to unlock the door. Easy beans.

Did you get it open yet or what?

FC's are just about the easiest cars to get into with a coat hanger. My first time using a coathangerkeyless entry was on my old 87 base. Took less than a min to find the lock actuator rod with the coat hanger.
