It should have come w/ a new sender/sensor. Remove the stock one (located under the oil filter) and put that new one in place. Now, white wire to sensor, black to ground (as far from the gauge as possible), and red to power (I used the same wire I used for my fuel cut switch), and you're done! Took me about 2 hours to install both the A/F gauges and water temp gauges, and I am a slow poke when it comes to wiring.

I assume that he is running water temp, as 90% of the folks out there don't have (or need) an oil temp. I gave directions on how to install water temp, BTW.

DO NOT install water temp where rico explained, the ecu needs teh water temp signal to run correctly. buy the adapter and put in on your radiator hose or drill and tap the water neck

Really? I had like 10 people tell me to do it where I said. That is where the stock water temp sender is located...So why will it not work soul? Mabye that is why mine read wrong. And all this time I thought it was the sender...

it will work kinda, but that is the only way the ecu knows the water temp it will always run richer than it is supposed too, because the ecu thinks the engine is cold. i could not tell when i was driving a huge difference but when we put it on the dyno and hooked up the a/f gauge it was running way rich, put the stock temp sender back in and wa la back to norm a/f at operating temp

Ugh, there is a waterthermosens0r near the water pump. THAT is what the ECU/CPU reads for operation.

In the rear housing, on the spark plugs' side, there is a small sending unit for the temp guage that's IN DASH. It's right next to the oil pressure sending unit. Remove the temp send0r and plug the new one in. It will fit if you bought the thread adapter. If not, it will also fit if you put some white plumbing tape on the threads and put it in there and then YANK on that sucker. Do that. Then put the stock sending unit in the knock-sensor hole (above the trailing plug) and you will have 2 fucntional guages now (since that aluminum is right next to the coolant passages, the knock sens0r hole is good).

Red wire goes to the send0r. I used the cigarette lighter's circuit for power. It has both light and the handy function of being active only when the key is in ACC. Use the red "bulb" for lighting of the guage, it'll turn out to look orange and match all your other stock lighting .

a/f gauges don't lie. the one on the water neck is just the temp before the thermostat, the ecu utilizes both readings. putting the water temp sender in the knock sensor hole is about the dumbest thing i have heard yet.
but do with your car how u wish
rico check my other post i explained the best locations

Well, I'm sorry but RETed instructed me on my installation. I guess he is not really smart

No offense soul, but RETed is GOD to FC's. His word is law for tech.

Oh, and the temp guage still read correctly from teh knock sensor hole. Cold, normal, hot, and in between all correspond to the Autometer guage as welll.....

Anyways, I don't think N/A really need the A/F to be critical as much as the Tubros .

Here is the thread. Ted clearly states that the OTHER send0r is NEEDED by the ECU and the other one is just for the stock guage (as indicated in the FSM).

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ight=autometer

I don't doubt your A/F readings, but did you change any other things besides the guage sending unit?

And I'm sure in a 1xx RWHP N/A if the aluminum tells the stock guage 170*F and the acutal temp is 174*F it'll make a difference. Plus the other unit tells the ECU 174*F, so it's all good

Drill and tap a hole in the water pump housing just shy of the thermostat, works great.

Check this: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=16203

That's how I installed my autometer water temp sending unit.
