Question Illuminating lights and parking lights dont work.Need help

Hello,

My illumin and parking lights went out. Found out the hard way. The Cops pulled me over last night. The problem I'm incuring is I can't find the right fuse on fuse box. i know it sounds stupid but I have the original manual and there is nothing in there. I think it's a 15a fus but I want to make sure. Also I read that the Headlight switch sometimes goes bad in the 7's and that could be the cause, but first I need to find the appropiate fuse. Can someone guide me here.

Thanks

Blvd43

The headlight switch usually goes, and it blows the Illum fuse in the fuse box. Just check through the fuse box for blown fuses - it will be the blown one .

I could verify that It's probably your Leftside Instrument Cluster Switch too. It happened to me (nada on the Interior/Parking lights) and when I swapped out the switch everything was back to normal. Dealership was asking for $647 can for GXL.

if your fuses are all good. im pretty positive its your headlight switch since that is always the problem with the sevens...it happened to me. take the whole instrumental cluster out and take out the headlight switch unit.....look at its condition. ( mine was burnt inside ) ......then go to ebay n search for one....u can find one for like 15 bucks ..search the buy/sell section in this forum also.

I have a switch for sale. Click here for info.

This also happened to me and a new (used. new to me) switch solved the problem.

Is this the part that i would need if this is my problem?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33695

If it is, then does the same part fit all years?

That switch should work dandy.

I've been dealing with this same problem for a little while now and I believe I have come up with a permanent solution. Whether or not it's been done before, I came up with the idea of using a relay to remove the load of the taillights and it's working out great.

You can read my story with pics of the melted connector and stuff here.
BTW, I'm still running on that melted connector and the switch side looks almost as bad and I'm having great results. No more flickering of any sort. Done & Done. I've got another switch & harness now and when I put them in I won't have to ever worry about it again.

Don't forget to replace the lumination harness as well as the switch if the switch is burnt.

Also clean all your bulb sockets and use a little condutive grease. Chances are there is some corrosion in there.
