Ignition Switch Wires Question

I took my ignition switch apart and I'm going to replace it with a switch panel and push button starter. I got it to work by tying in the white wire with red stripe to the panel power, theblue wire to the ignition switch and the wire (black/red)marked "st" on the original switch plate I connected to the push button starter.

What are the other four wire for? There are two marked IG - IG1 and IG2. What do these control? There are also two other smaller guage wires - one is a ground, I assume, what does the other do?

Go to page 50-15 of the WIRING SCHEMATICS. Online and free.

Look at the bottom left of that page.

See the IGNITION SWITCH.

See the B/Rwire that feeds the clutch interlock sw/starter solenoid.

See the L wire and how it feeds a 10a and 20a fuse and what those fuse are.

See the B/R wire that feeds three 15a fuses and one 10a fuse and what those fuses are for.

See the B/W wire and how it feeds two 15a fuse, one 30a fuse, one 7.5a fuse and
one 10a fuse and what the fuses are labled for.

See a single pure black wire that comes from the batt/alt and feeds the ignition sw 12vdc approx. That one isn't that clear in that picture but that is what it does in life. Just put that one to gnd and see how much spark you can make.

The four pin/socket plug is the Ignition Key Reminder Switch ( a silly piece of junk for those who have no situational awareness). See page 50-75 of the Wiring Schematics.

To install a push button starter run a 12volt wire to your push button. Run the second lead of the push button the to soleniond on top of the starter (remove existing wire first). YOUR DONE.

To start the car, turn your key to the On position and push the button.

the only thing is, is that I've removed the ignition key switch and have replaced everything with a switch panel
