Question If you were me...would u buy this???

I have a 91 coupe with 80k right now... should i sell it to my freind for 4k , and but this turbo 2 that near me for about 3k....the problem with tha turbo2 is that it already has 150k miles on it...is a rebuilt motor as good as original??? How long do they last?? Are they hard to maintain if i drive regularly???

If your worried, take the T2 to a shop that deals with Rotaries or Mazda dealership and get a pre-purchase inspection done with a compression test. If it all checks out good, then go
for it.

Re-builds last depending on the quality of the builder and the parts used....

If I were you, well i can't really say, i don't know what you want. If it were me, i'd keep the coupe and just have a good reliable car. and then after i finish college i plan on upgrading.
that's just me tho.

Yeah. That extra cash will get you a new engine with a nice streetport. It'll be about as fast a TII, AND much more reliable.

Side note to the poster, if the engines rebuilt then that's better, but get a compression test before you buy and verify it has indeed been rebuilt and the seller isn't just blowing smoke up your ***.

Personally, I'd sell your coupe, find a TII with an engine that is running but needs a rebuild for cheaper, say 2k, then spend 2k on rebuild, port, mods.

5K isnt worth it, I bought my 87 TII for 4K with 60K original miles in mint condition from the original owner. S4 and S5 engines have their perks and downfalls, S4's being the lower compression.. the next engine I buy will be an S5 with 3MMs and alot of s6 ****..

That TII with 150k is not worth it if the engine is original. You can easily find a nice TII (interior, exterior, blown engine) for less than $2000. That TII engine will blow so you might as well find one cheaper with an already blow engine. We just picked up a 87 TII mint condition (except for engine) 130k for $1500 down in homestead. For $5000 you can get a built TII for sure

5 k is too high unless it has alot of high $ mods already

standalone $1k
ACVR $400
Aftermarket Turbo, manifold etc. $2k
etc, etc

Risky - A JDM motor is about $1000
Good - A rebuild with a street port $2500
Best - A rebuild with a street port and new housings $3000 and up

My advice is to shop around
