if oil seals are bad does it smoke ALL the time?

Well its running and running good.

When I get it out on the road and heated up good it doesnt smoke a bit BUT when I get to a stop sign and give her some gas she smokes a little??????

Where can it suck up oil from when going from a stop? I figured it was an oil seal but out on the highway it doesnt smoke at all under boost... only from a stop.

Does this sound familiar with any of your cars?

Thanks!

this just lets off a little bit of smoke, like a little cloud, but thats it.. goes away till the next stop sign.
also it STINKS not like burning oil (and no its not coolant-been there, done that)

I thought it was the turbo, but there are NO signs of leaking in the turbo or outside the turbo

HELP!!

thats where the question comes in...

if seals are bad it will smoke all the time??
or at what point does oil enter the rotor besides the OMP.
just trying to figure where I need to be looking to see if there is an issue

well if im correct i think after a lil the oil injectors might be leaking or something that could just be your luck maybe not shure how hard they are to replace or even if you can.... if not im not exactly shure about the oil seals...

Is your EGR system still active?

Are you running OMP or premix?

How do the back of your exhaust pipes look?

all emissions are still there

I am running the OMP

pipes are NOW dry, previous turbo failed causing a LOT of oil to enter the exhaust, but I think it is all burn out now

I looked and looked at the manual for the EGR system, but I cant tell what I need to check or replace.

I am in the process of trying to sell this but I want to find that issue
thanks wayne, any ideas?

Not specifically, but the key words used to describe your problem are "stop sign", which means you're idling, which means your EGR system is sucking air from the exhaust flow at the rotor housings, and routing it back through the intake, if everything's working right. And if you're still OMP, you might have a little excess in the housings, that, while getting burned off at idle, is being routed through the intake again, and on and on...

That is, if it's not the turbo (my first guess), or the oil control rings (wouldn't think so, the way you're describing the symptoms)

I've got a similar problem. Sometimes when idling there will be a good amount of smoke comming out of the exhaust. If I blip the throttle 500rpm sometimes it'll stop. Next time I stop it may start happening or it may happen less and simply smell. I haven't inspected the turbo yet...

ohhh.. ok I see

so it isnt a bad thing necesarly to see that smoke from a sign. What is making that excess oil would you think?

PS my stock oil guage reads 60LBS of preasure while driving and 45-50 idle (20-50 oil)

well in the old engine before I tore it out it read 10-15 PSI but this is a J-motor with Jspec sender

sooo.. too much oil preasure would blow by the seals? how do I regulate that to 30-40?

That's why the pressure is so high. It'll only be under 30 at around 750-800rpm, anything over 1K and it's near the middle of the gauge generally. That's normal.
