If i were to buy two guages

Hey guy's i've got my 86 n/a, and i'm board and want to buy some guages to mount on the pillar, or somewhere 'cool' lol

anyway, what two guages would you buy for an 86 n/a...

IE: what two guages do you feel would be most important...

AND... where would you guys mount these guages.

thanks

Oh, >BTW< would Air/fuel be important for an N/a? or would that be an 'overkill guage'

Water and oil sounds good, BUt than what would i do with the stock guages?

I'm buying 3 or 4 gauges...

oil press, water temp, boost are definate... and if I buy a 4th it'll be a/f

boost is going to be first, followed by water temp, then oil press... then a/f
I'm going to mount the first 3 under the stereo, and if I get a 4th the boost gauge is going on the a-pillar, and the rest under the stereo..

I say get a EGT gauge and a coolant temp, the stock one isnt accurate enough for me. A/F would be 3rd. Oil temp would be nice also.

what exactly does the Exhaust Gas Temp guage do?

isnt it similar to a Air/fuel ratio guage? sorry for my stupidity, but i never understood the Exhaust temp guages.

I will more than likly get a Water temp, oil press on the A-pillar... than a Air/fuel guage down near the radio maybe?

p.s.... explain Air/fuel guage
..........explain EGT guage

p.s.s... my car is N/A, no boost guage for me.. (YET)

if the Exhaust gas temp. are high it means your running lean. and vice versa.

so an EGT guage is similar to an air/fuel ratio guage correct?

do they both basically tell you if your running rich or lean?
if so, which guage would be 'better'?

Yo,

EGT shows you how hot the exhaust gases are. If they start to skyrocket, you know you're running lean.

I've read that EGT is superior to A/F because it's actually showing what's going on inside the rotor, as opposed to an AF gauge that is interpreting signals from your O2 sensor. Something your O2 sensor was never meant to really do.

I've heard that A/F gauges are just "pretty light shows" and really don't do much of anything except entertain the driver. *grin*

I would go with an EGT vs. an A/F.

I'm considering this one:

Money better spent performance-wise, yes. But I like to know what is going on inside my engine, which is something the stock gauges wont tell me. Gauges serve a very good purpose, they're not just for a fancy light show on mommy's civic...
