alright guys i got my car to run good and know it idles from 2500 to 1000 it just wont idle.when i start it it goes to 2500 and drops to about 1000 and thas how it idles up & down up & down any ideas

 

i have a 1986 and i have a similiar problem. mine lessens after it gets warmed up but i believe it to be an injector problem. try running injector cleaner through it and if it helps at all you probably have the same thing. mine is in storage right now and i plan to take it in in the spring to have a professional look at it.

 

mine did exactly the same thing - believe it or not, Mazda replaced my throttle cable and now the idle is solid as a rock.
