Idling City Driving Issues
Idling City Driving Issues
Hello all , my rx7 is a NA 87 Auto, usually starts and runs fine will idle just fine on cold starts and goes and drives pretty good but I have noticed if I do a lot of city driving like getting put turning off the car going into store coming back put multiple times if I'm in town the car progressively gets kinda worse, idle worse at lights sometimes it'll be ok sometimes it'll stall out and die and I have to turn it back on and feather it. Seems like it doesn't liked being turned off and on repetitively in town and multiple hot starts. Was wondering on any ideas mabye why. BAC valve is non functional might I add.
Possibly the injectors are leaking, so when you shut down the engine, it floods the engine, making it difficult to start.
this would also wet the spark plugs and might be why your drivability decreases after hot start.
Could try some new plugs in it and see if that helps right after putting new plugs in. And in the turbo world (I understand you’re N/A) , it’s a good idea to have the fuel injectors cleaned and tested as some routine maintenance.
lack of the bac doesn’t help either, and I really do believe it’s worthwhile to have it.

Similar problem
87 NA 7 Cold starts fine. But once the engine is warmed/hot and I go to park to go to the store for about 30ish minutes. I come back to hot start it and it will start up fine but than the idle will slowly go to 750 for like a sec and it will drop low like in the vid. I had experience on a hot *** day when I go to hot start my 7 it will start up fine but this time the idle will literally drop close to the 0 but than the idle will catch itself keeping the car from dying. This only happens when it’s really hot outside. But when it’s not hot and the idle is low it usually remain low until I start driving again. Than for some odd reason the idle will go up slightly or it’ll be at the normal 750 idle or at 1k. Some people told me to mess with the AFR ****. But I want to know first if there is any other solutions like TPS adjustment or etc.
