Idle stuff - big deal or not?

My car - you start it up and it goes to the 3k thing - but then it drops down to just below 1k and slowly climbs to sometimes near 1500. I drive it away and usually, if I go somewhere and shut it down, get back in and start it up, it idles normal at 750. Does this have something to do with the weather? It's getting a little colder in the morning. It used to drop down to 750 and stay if I recall. I don't know how it's supposed to work, and I'm wondering if something is bustified.

I'm pretty sure that's normal, and fully temperature related. I'm in chilly Toronto, and my car does that every day. The 3k thing is to warm the cats. After that it stays in the 1000-1500 range to warm the engine, and tends to stay there until the car is warmed up. I've noticed on hot summer mornings it drops right to 750, but on the cold mornings it stays higher for a while.
