Question Idling at 2,000 rpm

Hello, just got an 87 2+2 with about 120k on it. The car idles at 2k an I know that is not correct. Is there anyway to adjust it to a lower level? Where do I want it to idle at anyway

yeah I belive on the top of the motor, there is a little rubber cover, if you remove that, there should be a *** with a standard screwdriver slot that will adjust it, I think that is what it is for.

the correct idle is 700 RPM I dont know why it would be doing that, mine has almost 140,000 on it and it runs fine

It runs fine it just idles high, I'm lucky the engine is quiet. Could you be more specific on the location of the idle screw.

its on top of the intake manifold
theres a black rupper nipple that pops up

check for vacuum leaks while you are at it.

if there arent any, and the idle screw adjustment doesnt fix it, check for slack in the throttle cable.

doh!

you'd have to be more specific on which screw you messed with on the throttle levers.

1st rule.... when messing with any type of adjustment first mark the original setting so in case anything happens you can set it back where you started. unfortunately i got here a little late.
